I heart slipcovers

I'm so excited. I found a seamstress to make me a slipcover for my oversized wing chair in the study for $265. Of course I don't have $265. I also don't have the fabric that is required for that project. But still.

I've heard of people paying $150 for custom slipcovers but apparently nobody in my part of the world has heard that bit of news. I'm not going to let that dampen my spirits. I guess that makes $265 one sweet deal. I'm gonna start saving my pennies.

I'm thinking if I don't buy any of you Christmas presents and if I feed my family the 4 for $1 mac and cheese for the foreseeable future then I should have that slipcover by next summer. And since I don't have to spend important mental energy figuring out what gift to get all of you, I can start focusing on the important questions. Cotton duck? Linen? Matelasse?

  2. This is another reason I wish I knew how to sew beyond a straight line. Unfortunately, I started sewing the curtains for my kitchen - the first panel turned out perfect - until I found out I had measured wrong!!!

  7. The chair in the pic is actually from the website of the place that is going to recover mine. Trust me if I already had a chair like that I would be in heaven!
