Inspiration is Everywhere

Today I crawled out of my fog of sickness and party preparations to do some shopping. I found this dress, which is clearly too spring to be purchased at the end of November, but it spoke to me so loudly that I was unable to resist. I knew it would look beautiful on my little girl but I was also so drawn to the pattern and colors for other reasons. This dress is the inspiration I've been looking for to start decorating Emma's room. It's just the look I want, to express who Emma is. She is pretty and bold, sweet and confident. She is brilliant and social, thoughtful and exuberant. She is tutu's and cleats, a child full of exhausting and exhilarating contradictions. She is soft colored flowers and bright gingham check. She is this dress.

  4. That is such a lovely dress. The print looks a bit like a Greengate design. I love the combination of pale blue and red. My whole flat is decorated around that colour scheme. That dress would look lovely just hung on my wall as a piece of art.

  6. Hi Jen,

Thanks for the comments on my blog. I responded to your questions on my comments section under the Martha's Vineyard and the clock posts. I love your blog...I think we like the same things! I see you're reading "An Affair with a House" by Bunny Williams. I have that on my wish list at Amazon. Is it good? It looks good!

  9. Hi Jen,

about the paper snowflakes, I've used white copy paper and placed a round tin box on the paper to copy the circle on it, then cutted the circle out and then I've fold it first in a half, than in a quarter and then in an eighth. Then you cut a pattern in the eighth and unfold it again to see how your snowflake looks. Here is a link with lot's of beautiful pattern. www.papersnowflakes.com
    Have fun trying it!
