Bright Idea of the Week

I know we have discussed my obsession with paint decks and paint sample cards previously, so I'm sure it won't surprise you to know that I have all of the Martha Stewart Paint cards from her Sherwin Williams line. I got tired of having to dig them out of the ziploc bag that contains my loose paint samples so I created this homemade paint deck so I would have easy access, because let's face it, Martha Stewart paint cards are just better than other paint cards. They deserve to be treated in a manner befitting their stature.

Here is how this deck was created. Go to the craft store & buy a hinged metal ring that opens in the middle (Less than$2 for a pack ), go to your friendly local Sherwin Williams paint store and pretend you just bought a new 4,000 square foot house with all white walls & proceed to take one of each paint card on display ($free), take the cards home & punch a hole in the corner of each card, put them in numerical order and place on metal ring. Ta-daa!

  3. That's a really great idea. Very professional! I love paint cards too. There's something about those little blocks of colour that makes you want a whole house of blank walls to start painting.

  8. This is a great idea and actually made me laugh out loud! I'm an Interior Designer and Stylist in SoCal and I own many fan decks from all the major paint manufacturers. Your clever idea makes me want to go out and make my own! Glad I stumbled upon your blog today. I'll keep checking in to see more fun ideas.

  9. I love Martha's chips too. I have quite the collection. I once saw in a magazine that they took a bunch of chips in similar shades and turned it into art...One day I will do it. If only I could find that article!
