Mini Me

Emma and I. We are so much alike. Two peas in a pod. I am so happy to have a partner in crime. Emma can be found by my side whenever I am doing something that involves decorating, cooking, gardening, sewing, reading, organizing, antiquing or art. My mom is envious because I didn't come to love these kinds of things until I was much older. I'm sorry, Mom. I really do feel bad about that. Emma adores dressing like me, making centerpieces for the children's table to match mine and decorating the house for holidays with whatever bits of pipe cleaner and paper she can find. We spend hours in the studio creating together. She loves going to the scrapbook store with me and always begs for supplies. She loves all things vintage. She loves watching cooking shows with me, especially The Barefoot Contessa and Paula Deen. She loves working in the flower beds with me and baking. She is my constant companion and our bond is incredibly strong. When she grows up she wants to be a Mom. She can't think of any job better than that. I can't think of any compliment greater than that.

  2. How perfectly wonderful! Emma is my kind of gal. I did have a career (33 years actually) in high pressure man's world, but I longed to do all things domestic! Now I can indulge myself in all of my hobbies, sewing, painting, gardening, decorating! I wish I had a grandaughter just like Emma!

  4. My granddaughter, Ellie, sounds so much like your Emma. Ellie loves to decorate, garden, whatever I'm doing. What an awesome task we have to be good examples because the young do emulate us.
    Enjoy reading your posts.

  8. I have a three yr old niece who loves to come to my house to do crafts and to "bake". In fact my husband called her up tonight to tell her that her cupcakes that we made today were extra wonderful because she made them.

  16. You lucky, lucky lady! I hope the years spent working alongside each other are rewarded, as they should be, with a wonderful relationship when you're both older. My Mum and I are very close now, and part of that is because she encouraged me in my crafting. Love to you both!

  18. Thank you all for your very sweet responses! Emma really enjoyed hearing what you had to say and it is so nice to see all of you new posters too!

Since I am also the mother of a teenage girl, I am well aware of quickly it goes by and how much that bond changes. I think that's why I appreciate it so much this time around.

  21. Hi there :)
I loved your first page so much that I thought I'd start with the first post and I stopped at this one because it cracked me up that you have a mini-me. I do too, but mine is named Annie :) I just started my own blog and I'm really inspired by yours. I'm inspired by Daisy cottage too, but I think I gushed so much I scared her off LOL I hope I don't do the same here.... yikes! Anyway, I'm just enjoying this so much.
