Worth the Wait

You know how sometimes you want something very badly and then when you do get it, you realize it didn't make you as happy as you thought it would? Well this isn't one of those times! I've wanted a bench for my foyer for at least 2 years. I've been actively looking for a long time & couldn't find one that was the right size/shape/finish & price. The other day Emma & I found this while on our way to storytime. Just $200. Can you believe it? You hate me, don't you?

I might paint it later so that it will pop a bit more against the white woodwork. I'm thinking a nice swedish look like one of these below. I'll probabaly make a cushion and pillows as well but for now I'm in no hurry, I'm enjoying it just the way it is. It was money well spent for a piece that I will have for years to come and can use in many different places in my cottage.

  1. Love you bench! I have the same one, but a two seater, it has been in almost everyroom of our house. Currently, it resides at the kitchen table, with lots of fun pillows on it!

  13. Wow! I am so jealous! It's perfect for your space. And just an FYI: Ballard Designs.com has the perfect tufted cushions that would look beautiful on your bench. (I don't know if the measurements would work out... but it's worth looking into (if you like them).

  29. Jen,
Love, love, love the bench and only $200...what a steal!! I have been looking for a good "Sweedish Blue" paint color to paint some furniture and I just can't find the right blue/grey color. I would love to know if you have a suggestion. Cammy

  31. Hi! I just found out your site and all the other ones, you recommend ...Wow..and all this time I didn´t know about you guys! I live in Scandinavia but I will be moving to USA, Michigan in May..to study...I am a mom of 3 boys..If anyone of you who will read this could advise me to great stores where I can purchase "cottage things" in the Michiana area I would be so thankful! I love the fact that all around the world there are people/women who think alike and share the same taste and I just laughed when you mentioned Pollyanna in your blog...wow I thought..there is a person who I can share a lot with...love your home...it is just wonderful!
