Aha Moments

Last night, while on a date with Sweet Hubby, in an area of town that I consider artsy, I wandered into the Girly Chic Boutique. It was a true light bulb moment for me. The clothes were more expensive than what a true-blue bargain shopper would normally buy, but not so expensive that I couldn't occasionally splurge. Lately I've been having a hard time finding clothes that express my tastes & personality. This has been a year of personal growth for me and I'm really getting to know myself, feeling comfortable with who I am, feeling confident about that and wanting to express it in every aspect of my life, including my clothing. My wardrobe leans toward dull, when I want it to lean toward free spirited, adventurous and individual. On the way home, I was explaining this to Sweet Hubby & telling him that the store reminded me of Anthropologie, in that their things were unique, sassy and girly & wishing that we had a store here. Later in the evening, I discovered, in my inbox, an email announcing the opening of an the Indianapolis Anthropologie on October 26th. I feel good fortune smiling upon me.

  3. I believe that it is coming to the Fashion Mall. Ohh... I can't wait! They have some of the prettiest stuff. Expensive, but worth the splurge every once in a while.

  7. My favorite store EVER! You will love having that wonderful place so close to you. We have a couple here in Atlanta and they are the best.

    Enjoy!

  8. Jenn,
You are fortunate! Those anthropologie stores are so suave, I love the home accents just as the clothing. In Seattle the store is gigantic, there are wonderful soulful adornments for the body as well as for the home. Fortunately, I do get to shop it- very- once in a while, and always come out with a smile.

  9. They don't have one in Indy yet. Cincinnati never has anything before Indy!! I feel the same about the IKEA that is opening here.
    Have a great week.

  16. Sometimes when I read your posts, it is so wierd, because I was just lusting after some Anthropologie clothes last week.

DH saw me going through the catalog and also noticed the Anthropologie webpage I had up on my computer. So for our 8th Anniversary (on the 16th), he drove 45 minutes each way to the Anthropologie store and bought me this sweater in blue.

I couldn't believe it. I would never buy it for myself. As a stay at home Mom, it's hard to justify the cost of their clothes, knowing that I could have something spilled on them at any moment!! I will definitely be picking out another sweater for my Christmas list.

    Take Care!

  19. I was in Anthropologie in Boston this past spring, and I LOVED it, Jen. I had seen their catalog, and been to their website, but nothing compares to being there. Their displays are clever, the clothes are incredibly hip (too hip for ME, I'm afraid! LOL), and the home stuff is great. I wish we had one around here in Upstate NY. Maybe the gods will smile upon me and I'LL get an email about one opening soon??? :)

  20. That's GREAT Jen! I know what you mean about finding your personal style! I'm 34 yrs old and this past year I am just finally learning what looks good on me and what does not. I'm finally passing up a great "bargain" knowing it will just sit in my closet! Good for you girly!

  22. I just loving walking into our Anthropologie at Kierland Commons...the flooring, the sounds...it's all good! They have some good sale deals, I've noticed. I love the Anthropologie look, but their clothes aren't cut well for my body type or something. So I will live vicariously through you! Really liked the other link you shared, too!

  23. I haven't heard of that store, now I have to go check it out :) There's nothing better than finding a place that fits your personal style. I think I'm at the same crossroad!

  24. I'm not familiar with that store, I live in Western PA...but I'm excited that you are excited. We all need to indulge ourselves from time to time. I'll be sure to stop back and see what kinds of clothing you've bought to celebrate the new you.

  25. Date night - how sweet and what a great way to nurture your relationship. Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores, not just their clothes and home decor, but also the store itself. Creativity in everything they do! Love the clothes and some day I will be able to fit into them because they are so well-suited to the old hippie in me!

  27. Oooh, I love Anthropologie too, great store. I'm thinking that I'm going to like living in Indy! My husband told me I'd like Broad Ripple too, now if we can just find a house we both agree on...of course, it would help a lot if ours sold first!

  28. Do you think if I wish hard enough Anthropologie will open a store in London? Or anywhere in the UK for that matter? Can really relate to your clothes issues. At 36 and still single and child free I can't decide if I still fit into the high fashion stuff or something a bit more classic. Would like to find a store that I really loved where I knew I could always find something just right.

  29. I do love Anthropology too, and how fun that you got an email that night about one opening in your area. They have lots of great stuff.
