A Collection

I think I must have a collectors heart, which greatly conflicts with my desire for things to be uncluttered. That must be why I'm drawn to things that aren't just pretty but serve a purpose as well. I recently came across this large blue Ball jar at a thrift store for $1 and it was love at first sight. It doesn't hurt that I'm currently obsessed with the color blue. I found the 2nd one at an antique store for $2. I now have the beginnings of a new obsession, I mean collection. You know you have a problem when you start asking people to get you blue jars for Christmas.
Then while exploring Teresa Sheeley's blog French Poppy, I discovered this original print for sale in her Etsy shop. I just had to own it as a celebration of my newest collection. I can't wait to hang it in my studio. What an inspiring thing to look at while I'm working and playing.

I pop in to check on you all the time, but I'm rarely signed in, so I don't comment much.

  2. Those are pretty, Jen. I found a set of 3 of those blue jars earlier this summer at a yardsale & sold them in my little shop. Mine had the glass lids too. You would have loved them!

  5. I've had some of those ball jars. May still have, tucked away, back there in storage. The ones without glass lids are great with those old zinc lids. I used to have a bunch of those, too. I think J gave them to a friend when we moved.

    The print is wonderful!

  19. It's the same thing here - my love for collections conflicts with my need for organization. I love blue ball jars for the very reason that they're so useful in so many ways. I fell in love with them a few years back and have quite a few. Look out...that blue glass is addictive. I started collecting blue/green glass medicine bottles too! :)

    That's a great print!

  20. Hi Jen, I can completely understand your obsession both with blue and the blue "ball" jars. I also managed to find one here in Australia at a swap meet. It has a cream painted zinc lid that goes very nicely with the blue. I'm never sure what to do with it so it spends its time travelling around the house being a part of one arrangement then the next.
I love the print and think it was such a lucky and appropriate find.
You have a very lovely blog indeed and I think you have been on my blog list almost since the start of it. Sorry that I have taken so long to leave a comment but please be assured that I have been enjoying your blog for ages...thankyou for sharing.

  26. I collect antique canning jars too and must see if I can find a print like that as well. I do hope you enjoy my book, The Prairie Girl's Guide to Life!, which has a great bread-and-butter pickle recipe in it for you to put those jars to good use.
