Happy Hunting or I How I Spent the $40 I Stole from Emma's Piggy Bank

I snuck into the little one's room this morning after she got on the bus and dipped into her savings. I had friends on the way to pick me up for a shopping adventure and no time to stop at the ATM. You can see I had no choice. I will pay her back but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. So here are just a few of my finds for the week. A gorgeous, huge basket and cane .25 each.

Beautiful cabinet I've been searching for to use in Miss Emma's room, $12.50. Best part: It doesn't need to be refinished!

Shades for my old dining room light fixture $1. By the way Sweet Hubby does like the dining room but I don't think he's loving it yet. That man has no vision.

A wall mounted magnifying mirror for my bathroom like the ones ($$) at Restoration Hardware that I've had my eye on, $3. This will allow me to count every wrinkle and large pore I have. Go me!

A Vera Bradley backpack purse (perfect for our trip to Disney in Oct.), $8.

I've got my mojo back. Between my thrifting yesterday and my garage sale finds today, I'm getting a bit cocky, feeling like I got the magic touch. Of course, you and I both know that fate will pay me a visit and make sure I don't find another good bargain for awhile. That oughta cure that.

The basket was a quarter??? Everything else...great deals! And P.S...I've raided my kids piggy banks before too...they help me remember when I do it!

  2. I share your excitement in a good day of garage saleing. My husband just doesn't get my excitement when I come home with a car full of goodies. I don't get to go out this weekend...maybe next. I especially like your white cabinet, cute!

  8. So glad to hear I'm not the only one who borrows money from the kids. You found some great stuff! Glad you didn't take the time to go to the ATM. You might have missed the good stuff!

  9. Wow, you must have some great garage sales where you live. When I've gone with friends, all we seem to see is a lot of "junk". Nothing like what you found. Great finds!!!!!

Great finds, and even better prices!!
I can't believe the basket for a quarter!!
Don't worry, we have all done that in a pinch. You just put the money back in when they aren't looking.

  14. I used to "borrow" from my kids banks all the time...I'd pay them back with a great interest rate and they'd practically beg me to borrow!

  15. Wow, girl, you scored!!! It is HILARIOUS that you dipped into her bank! I thought I was the only one that did that! The tooth fairy came to our house this week and I needed to borrow it tonight...so sad. :(

  16. What fantastic finds Jen! Today, after visiting a half dozen garage sales my daughter & I came home with a 10 cent frame :-}. Lots of rain today, so many sales were cancelled. Love that big wicker basket & white cabinet.

  17. Boy I wish there were places to thrift like you have there!! Yard sales here are atrocious for the most part, and thrift stores are few and far between. I love all of your finds!!!

I also can't wait to see the finished dining room...!

  24. OMG, I am cracking up because I thought I was the only shameless hussy who ever used her kids' piggy bank as an ATM! (I always pay them back...I SWEAR! LOL)

Great finds, as always! Our garage sales suck around here for the most part. I have garage sale envy!

  26. I have one of those Vera Bradley backpack purses, also in black! I LOVE it! It goes with me on a lot of traveling adventures. Boo-hoo, I paid full retail for it about 6 years ago! But it was still soooo worth it because it still looks like brand new. You scored big time!
