Slipping in to Something More Comfortable

Here's my new mantra- stop dreaming and start doing. This slipcovered chair is the perfect example. I've wanted to do this for a couple of years and finally made up my mind. I Found a seamstress, bought $4 a yard cotton duck, gave her an inspiration picture and here we are- a chair that no longer makes me ask What was I thinking?. It makes such a difference in this room. You'll be seeing more of this room soon as we change it from the room the piano ate into a place where the girls can hang out with their friends. My brother is coming in a week and a half to take the piano, sweet hubby is on his way home right now with a flatscreen tv/computer monitor and we will be well on our way. I'll be back soon with more pictures and to ask for your opinions.

  4. Oh, I love it! Looks perfect and the pillow coordates so well with the room. I've wanted to do the same, but I'm afraid of what a custom cover would cost. I've had premade cover on order (backordered!) and I can't wait to get it.

  18. Oh my gosh, this is so funny. I have a room like that. My formal living room is so not what I imagined. I have a stupid goldish color couch that I thought I loved. Now all I want in that room is slip covered furniture - JUST LIKE THIS!!
I need to adopt that mantra. Good job Jen, it looks amazing already.

  33. Your chair turned out gorgeous! I have a chair in desperate need of a slipcover. It's one of the few items that my husband brought into the relationship that I haven't gotten rid of, so I feel a certain sense of obligation to hang onto the thing. But it's a horrible shade of brick-red & currently sitting in the garage.

Where did you get your lovely birdy pillow? My house needs one!

  39. Love the pillow! Where did you get the pillow?

... and the slipcover! Perfect. I have similar plans to cover the couches inthe great room. They are a lovely neutral chennile, but in the summer I would like to change out and put covers on them, just to give the whole room a different feel... like new furniture!
