Happy Birthday Sweet 16 Part I

Yesterday our sweet girl turned 16. It's so hard to believe that time has gone by so quickly. We started the day with birthday pancakes which are a tradition in our house. And why limit yourself to one birthday wish when 2 is so much nicer?

Later in the day we made a pilgrimage to the mall so that she could spend every last penny of her birthday money, including a trip to Costco to fill up the tank of her new-to-her car, a 2001 Chevy Tracker that she paid 1/2 of. Go Maddie! I can't show you pictures of it right now (Sweet Hubby still hasn't transferred our old pics to our new computer hint, hint) but which is adorable and so perfectly Maddie.

This was followed by dinner at our favorite local pizza place, apparently chosen because of the cute boy that she recently met that works there. Apparently her pancake birthday wish was a waste though because he had the night off.

The night was capped off with birthday pie, because any 'ol person can have birthday cake. It takes a real individual to buck tradition and Maddie is nothing if not an individual. That explains the tiara which was worn most of the day. This is Maddie searching her brain for something to wish for when I suggested she not waste her birthday wish on a boy. I'm 99.9% sure she couldn't come up with anything else and that her wish was boy related after all.

A close up of Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Pie because I'm just mean like that.

This is the version of Maddie's birthday that I hope we all remember. Stay tuned for the rest of the story.

  5. Happy birthday to Maddie!!

We do b-day pie as well...my son always chooses pecan pie as his birthday "cake."

So the burning question is: how does it feel to have a child who is driving!!??
