When One Door Closes

I've long been fascinated by doors- french, vintage, screened, dutch. Since I was a little girl from the wrong side of the tracks, delivering newspapers to the right side of the tracks. That girl would often wonder what life was like on the other side of those doors.

That little girl who had the audacity to tell her Momma that she was born to belong to a country club.

That little girl who didn't know better than to dream big. That girl grew up and is still dreaming big, still wondering what is behind those doors. Still determined to see for herself. That girl still has a child like wonder every time she throws open a new door expectantly waiting to see what awaits her.

  10. I know about that feeling - I grew up on the wrong side of the tracks and always felt that I was bigger than that. Dreams are a beautiful thing.

I still like to walk at night to see the lighted decor in people's homes.

  12. Beautiful doors, I'm really thinking of painting the french doors that lead into my studio a fun color like some of those in the pictures. I was always the little girl that liked to dream big too, still do. Thanks for sharing those great photos.

  19. Life is full of many doors and sometimes it feels a little scarey to see what might be on the other side but it is usually a wonderful journey once you go through it. I just discovered your blog, so glad to find you. I am going to go and look around, so far I am liking what I see. kathysue

  20. I love that dutch door...I have dreams of having one, and having a milk cow that would come up to the house and poke her head it. Romantic isn't it? Reality would be a lot of poo in places I wouldn't want it....Jen dear...life has a big beautiful door waiting for you...and it's going to open SOON...into a Village of Wonderment. You will live there, finish raising your children there, and live your days out with fabulous haircuts, long walks on tree lined streets, whilst drinking delicious lattes on your way to the corner library.

  27. That looks like a painted version of one of these doors: http://www.woodstarproducts.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=65_68

It would be nice to have at least one Dutch door in the house. I guess not all houses are designed to accept one though huh?

It looks beautiful, the whole place.
