Falling Behind

With the craziness of the past few months I'm afraid my magazine reading has suffered. This may not seem like a big deal to you, but it's a pretty serious problem to me. I haven't read a Country Living magazine since May. May!! I've been telling myself for months that July was going to be my month. The month when I would just dedicate myself to catching up on my reading. At this point reality has set in and I'm thinking there will be no catching up until the girls go back to school.

With one exception. I just found this at my local Borders. A.NEW.ISSUE.OF.COUNTRY HOME!!!! Can you even believe it? This one won't be added to the September stack. This one is my top priority. I'm betting you will want to make it a priority too.

  2. Magazines are my number one vice- among many others. I am a magazine addict; I search every store, every time I am out for all of my favorites. Unfortunately, I think the Country Home is just a special publication with some great pics - the magazine is no longer in print. I miss it - it was a favorite!

  3. What!?! I read that Country Home Magazine had ceased publication?

I've been looking for it forever and haven't been able to find it.

    :(

Enjoy and make sure to share if you read/see anything really good. :)

  4. Must have magazines!

I went out today looking for something, anything. I did come across that Country Living, but it looked like one of those re-hash magazines that have been popular lately. Southern Accents did one - all articles pulled out from old issues. Cottage Living did the same. I'm assuming that is what this one is.

At lunch today, I pulled out a couple of old Home Companion magazines to look at.

  7. Well, I'm very excited that Country Home is back, but kind of bummed that the remaining two years on my subscription had been converted to BH&G!

I totally understand about being behind. I like to take them camping to catch up!

  8. I just planned my next trip to the bookstore to get this one! Somehow I always manage to fit in my magazine reading even if it's during breakfast and lunch. It is a must for me. Hope you catch up soon!

  9. What? They're publishing again?! I will be so excited if they're back to stay as this was one of my all-time favorites and I was sad to see it close. If anyone's looking for me this afternoon, I'll be at the bookstore...

  10. Every one is talking about this new /old mag and that it has no advertisements and will only be published quarterly! I have been going through my mags and taring out what I want and filing stuff!

  11. I totally agree. Just re-hash.

  12. I bought the Country Home because I couldn't resist, but sadly, it contains photos from previous issues of the magazine. The 'special' publications are nice, but for someone like me who devoured every Country Home, every photo is one I recognize from the good old days. Maybe if it sells a lot, they might start publishing the magazine with new content every month - or even every other month?

  13. Have to have my magazines too Jen :-) It's one of those "traditions" on Summer vacation that we stop off at a bookstore and each pick up a book/magazine to take with us on our journey. Always so nice to sit with some new reading material. Enjoy your Country Home (I'll look for it too) ♥

  17. Great news! I dashed out to the grocery store for milk and looked for it there but didn't see it. I'll get my hands on one soon. Your previous post about going back and forth on your decision to move to the cottage/village reminded me a lot of how I felt when we gave up a big 80s house to move to an old home with charm and character a few years back. I remember lying in bed that first night, listening to mufflers rev at the stop sign just out the window, smelling the mustiness blown about by our fan plugged in along with everything else to the only outlet in the entire room (behind the middle of the bed--perfect) and thinking, "What have I done?" We enjoyed that little house with the beautiful yard but have since moved on to a new, green house with a vintage design. Enjoying the best of both worlds... You're embracing your new life and I look forward to reading more about it.

  21. PUUUULeeeeeze put a picture on here of your new cottage. Even if it's just a corner of a cabinet. And then you can sit back and read that stack of magazines.

Which by the way, I've quit buying because I spend so much time reading decorating blogs. Chuck is elated that I'm saving him a few dollars. ha.

Just miss seeing your pretty pictures. Julia

  24. I was so excited to hear about this but I can't find it anywhere! I'm going to run out tomorrow and check a couple places *crossing fingers and toes*. While I was checking Walmart, I did see an issue of Cottage Living that looked like it was a similar deal, a one time special edition. I hope they keep doing these or come back altogether!

  31. I can't believe Country Home is back! I am so excited. It was my fave and I was so sad when it went away. I am constantly picking up new magazines at grocery or ordering new subscriptions. Drives hubby mad. But housewives have to stay inspired, you know? ;)
