Consolation Prize

I have been a naughty blogger. I know. Feel free to give me the verbal spanking I so deserve. In my defense, let me say that getting a house cleaned, unpacked, arranged, painted, weeded, mulched and fluffed in 6 weeks time is a huge undertaking. The end of the school year is always such a hectic time but throw in a graduation and company 2 weekends in a row and you have a recipe for insanity. On top of that my danged 'ol family expects me to cook and clean. Hello??? What are they thinking?

Now I've gotten to the point that I always get to right before company gets here where I just have to let it go. I can only do what I can do. I am just one woman and without benefit of superpowers, it is not all getting finished.

 I have a bathroom with unpainted walls but freshly painted trim, a front porch with one coat of white paint covering the deep green window trim and freshly installed stairs that have been neither caulked nor painted. Life will go on. Always one to look on the positive side, I am choosing to focus on what we have been able to accomplish which is really an astonishing list for such a short time.

Our Summer vacation doesn't officially begin until next Wednesday at which time I am going to become a blogging fool. I have so much to share. I'm going to blog so much that you will get tired of me and beg me to stop. Until that time I leave you with these hastily snapped, unstaged photos to quiet those of you that feel a need to complain about my lack of updates. That means you Michelle Skinner.

  1. What?? You can't get it all done?!! Seriously though, I totally get it - you want to do all of these things but there is only one of you and only so much time and energy. I think most of us can relate to that! Everything looks really nice so far and I love your living room wall color. You should feel proud of all that you have accomplished. And I know, it is really inconvenient when the kids and hubby still think there should be something to eat and clean clothes to wear! : }

  17. Cooking, I don't mind. It's the cleaning, the daily upkeep that doesn't even include the deep cleaning that gets on my nerves. Dirty dishes continuously appear in the sink no matter how many times I wash them. Dust bunnies are a constant. :/ You've accomplished much. No one will even notice the rest. Best wishes, Tammy

  22. Such wise words. I, too, always wish I had superpowers and could do it all. All looks great, and you've accopmlished MUCH progress!!! Hope you had a good time with your family. I got my hair cut in the village on Saturday and had some time left to meander. It had been a while since I usually have my little one with me. I came upon the pastry shop that opened up in January. OH MY GOODNESS!!! Everything made my mouth water! I tried the chocolate eclair and am in trouble...I'm addicted! I drove down some of the streets trying to find your new home to leave a little something on your doorstep, but had no luck. Would you be willing to share your address? I promise I won't stalk you! :) joelnkelly at hotmail dot com.
