Worth the Wait

You know that feeling when you know exactly what you want for a spot, and you search and wait and just know you will find it one day and you try to be patient when really you just wish destiny would drop it in your path? And then that day comes and you walk into an antique store and find the exact right piece in the exact right size for $45 American dollars for crying out loud and you don't even call your husband and tell him you are buying a piece of furniture like you normally would you just walk home and get your SUV and drag it back and surprise him with it and you are just filled with a kind of euphoria and rightness for having done the waiting?

Well, that's what happened to me last week. After a year my patience was rewarded and now I have the perfect spot to hold bills, paint decks, scarves, hats, the days mail and  my keys. It's all about storage in a small house, you know. And now this side of the family room makes me ridiculously happy and the amount I love my time out corner just increased infinitely.

I love how this house is evolving. Now if fate would just drop a new slipcovered sectional in my path...

  18. For me it was a table. I bought it without discussing it with my husband. He peeked at the cute little tag hanging from it and didn't wince. He loves the look and the size and has stopped shaking his head at my constantly changing things. And now, I just need the slipcovers to miraculously appear.

    Enjoy your perfect little dresser!

  20. This piece truly is perfect for that spot! So happy for you (and wondering if I can have similar serendipity in my own home - it would be so nice to have a true home for all the hats / scarves / gloves that accumulate).
