Hunting, Gathering and Painting

I managed to sneak away from the never ending kitchen project to collect some things for our makeover. The pretties are keeping me focused and on task. I already know that my favorite part of this project is going to be displaying all of my colorful things on the open shelving. The image of that is what is getting me through the days right now.

Aren't these knobs swoony? I first saw them at Anthropologie last week but couldn't justify the cost. Then I went to bed and woke up and somehow I had come to my senses so I went back for them. Most of my regrets in life come from things I didn't buy that I wished I had. I've since come to realize that life's too short for regrets. Plus I only needed 3. I can live with that little splurge.

This is what it looked like as of mid-day yesterday. It has actually come along a fair amount since then. I hit a point yesterday where I was sorry we ever started this project. Then 2 different friends came to see our progress and their reactions really brought me out of my renovation funk and I was able to see the progress rather than just all the work that is yet to be done.

There's some fun color showing up in this room. It was even my Sweet Man's suggestion. I was totally willing to play it safe here and he said, why not aqua? Why not indeed? I've probably never been more proud of him. Who am I to say no to what he wants, right?

And just to keep it real, here's what the other side of the room looks like. Did I mention that tomorrow I have company coming to stay with us for a few days?

  3. I got a good giggle out the "other half of the room". Blogging definitely allows for the cropping out of reality and the reality of renovation is a mess...somewhere. It is really coming along beautifully. Can't wait to see your vision come to life and of course, if your man says aqua, just smile and say I wish I had thought of that! Enjoy your company.

  28. I can already tell that your kitchen is going to be gorgeous and worth all the time and effort! I don't blame you for splurging on those cute knobs when you only had to buy 3 of them. Is that the cabinets that are going to be aqua? I love that color! Have fun with your company!

  33. The kitchen is looking like it's going well. When you get in a funk and see only what's left, do you go back and look at the "before" pictures and see how much you've done? Sometimes remodelling is like children - when you are with them daily it's hard to see the changes until you look at old photos.
