Love is in the Air

Around our house, Valentine's Day is mostly an excuse to craft and put up some happy decorations to get us though the rest of Winter. It is not about big romantic gestures and gifts. Not that there's anything wrong with that if your fella is so inclined!

My studio tree usually comes down after Valentine's Day but I'm considering a permenant stay in its new location not that I have the space. A few years ago my crafty friend, Melissa and I did a Valentine's Day ornament swap and I love pulling them out every year.

My class banner found a home in the family room appropriately hung beneath my favorite picture of me and my honey, taken by my talented friend, Teresa who swears she isn't going to be friends with me anymore if I don't blog a step by step post on how to make my fave grilled pizza. That pizza might be the entire reason she is considering getting on a plane to come see me again in the Fall.

Last week I found myself in a pom pom making frenzy which then became pom pom flowers. I used wooden skewers wrapped with green Japanese tape for the stems.

A little spot of happiness to chase away the Winter doldrums.

I also rearranged the dining room. I go back and forth about the placement of this table but this feels the most inviting to me so it's going to stay this way. Until I move it again. Which may have already happened again by the time you read this!

  1. When you referred to it as a "class banner" my mind immediately started dreaming of a school (k-12) that would have a class banner like this and the whole school would look like this banner. Dreamy right?

  2. Your room is wonderful. Love your banner. I made 5 for a Heart Swap, but I didn't keep one. I guess I should have made one for me.

  3. We are the same way with Valentine's Day at our house. We put up a ridiculous amount of stuff to help get us (me) over the empty post Christmas decoration slump. No big spendy gifts, just an excuse to bust out a lot of hearts!

I think your friend is right about the grilled pizza - I've never done that before and it would be fun to know how to do!!!
