One Thing Leads to Another

Just when I think I'm done with the organizing, I find more chaos to tame. That's what happened when I pulled out my embroidery supplies to work on my quilt rehab. I was so filled with anxiety when I peeked inside that I couldn't even start my project until I had tamed it.

Seriously, doesn't that make your hands clammy? No wonder I haven't spent any time embroidering in ages. I have all of these adorable samplers just waiting for me to play with, but every time I opened my box it was filled with the mess above.

Can we just talk about how happy this makes me? Organized color? Come on! Does life even get better than that? Something tells me that you'll be seeing a lot of projects with colored thread coming from me for awhile.

In the meantime my embroidery basket is all happy and organized and no longer stressing me out.

Now when I open the lid I'm immediately excited to start a new project! If you would like to pick up a needle you can find great samplers from Pam Garrison, Charlotte Lyons and Rebecca Ringquist. If you have any other recommendations I'd love to hear them.

  1. I did that not too long ago, too! What a mess. I also went through all my buttons and sorted them down by color. It feels so good to be organized, doesn't it? YOUR organization looks much prettier than mine does! lol xo Diana

  2. It feels so good to get things organized. I can't really function well if things are all messy. Now have fun creating.

  4. Your embroidery basket is so adorable! I am afraid I have a similar basket in "before" condition. Your "after" photos are inspiring:>)

  5. I love my thread organizer too. It makes me want to buy more colors that I don't have just so I can organize them and see them all together. Love that felt house you keep it all in!

  6. I also love my thread organizer. I had to go to a second box and was happy to see the printed stickers for each thread color. Thank for letting me know about sampler sites, I am heading over there now.

  8. I also love my thread organizers and my sisters and I used them right from the beginning. I have two full and one half size container. Your bag system was a great way to keep the flosses separated and untangled though. Our containers are very similar to yours except that I like how your boxes are clear (mine are opaque.) I'm used to counted cross stitch but I would love to try one of the samplers one day.

  12. the fact that you had the floss labeled in baggies is impressive! i have 1/2 mine tamed and the other 1/2 is pretty much in a pile in a basket...sad, sad, sad. Don't you wonder why the floss doesn't aleady come on those plastic cards??!! I love the patterns you have! I also like ones from Sublime Stitching, Doodle Stitching (Amy Ray), and Noia Land (on etsy). Have fun!

  14. There are a few, free, cutiepatootie needlework patterns available on www.down---to---earth.blogspot.com. Rhonda Jean makes such cute stuff! She's a self-sufficient Aussie with quite a story of the journey she and her husband of many years have taken to simplify their lives. I've followed her blog almost since the beginning. Enjoy!
    Happy new year!
