Wonderful Weekend!

We had a wonderful visit with our friends & ate like there was no tomorrow. My friend Betsy is a wonderful cook. I came home with copies of several of her recipes. The weather was unseasonably cold (we even saw snow on Monday morning) which kept us inside a lot although we did make it to IKEA, American Girl Place and Anthropologie before leaving.

I hit the jackpot at Ikea but that place was a zoo! I got baskets, magazine holders, towels, glass jars and so much more. I got tons of storage ideas for when I eventually have a dedicated craft space. These are a few pics to hold you over until I get things in place and share actual photos.

Emma loved the American Girl store. It was heaven. She spent every penny of the $35 she had saved up (quite impressive for a 5 year old who only gets $3 a week) & of course we chipped in some money to make sure she got a few extras.

Maddie and I loved Anthropologie! So cool in person. Most things were a little too expensive for a 13 year old girl or for the mom of a 13 year old girl left broke from buying clothes for a 13 year old girl. We did manage to buy 3 of the monogrammed coffee mugs from my wish list (2 for me & 1 for M to use to store makeup brushes etc. in) as well as a cool drawer pull for a vanity I'm refinishing for her and a white coral reef wall hook also for her.

  1. So glad you had fun Jen! Wasn't the American Girl store adorable? I went there a few years ago. Anthropolgie is my favorite store for inspiration! Your new finds sound awesome - can't wait to see them in your home!

  3. Kim- It was great. I look forward to going back. Thanks for stopping by!

Cherry- I'm working on getting things put away. How can being gone for 1 weekend create so much work? I guess I shouldn't have brought so much new stuff home!

Apron thrift girl- Thank you so much for your sweet words. They really mean a lot to me. I truly feel like my blog is a good representation of me, so it makes me happy. Isn't Anthropologie to die for? I'd love a wardrobe from that place too!

  4. I have six of the Ikea baskets and they are marvelous for holding all kinds of things. Anthropologie is one of my favorite "days out" - I can spend hours walking through it. Your blog is a lot of fun!

  7. Becca- Thanks for your nice words.

RaNae- So sorry, I didn't get that recipe to you but glad you found one anyway.

Sharon- Thanks for visiting. I highly recommend Chicago and can't wait to go back. Next time I plan on exploring more. With all those great boutiques, it's a shame I only got to go in 2 stores!

  9. Hey! I have that alarm clock! I bought mine at Goodwill. Where was it originally from? Sounds like a fun time!

  10. Bettsi- The alarm clock is from Ikea and I imagine the reason you found it at Goodwill is because it's frustrating trying to keep it wound. I wish I had realized it didn't take batteries before I bought it. It sure is cute though.
