Inspiration Friday- Window Treatments

Today I'm focusing on something that has been on my mind lately, window treatments. I don't know if it is the warmer weather or a shift in my decorating tastes, but I am being more and more drawn to cafe curtains, wood shades and plantation shutters. I want natural fiber fabrics like linen and burlap and simple details like buttons and ties.

By the way, if you are participating in Friday Inspiration please leave me a comment letting me know. I thought it would be nice for me as well as other people to have a reference list. I know I look forward to Fridays a little more than I used to now!

  1. Very lovely window treatment pictures! I'm working on windows now, too, so your post was particuarly timely today. I especially love that short counter-length floral drape!

  2. I love the look of bamboo shades! I don't think I've ever seen a room that had them that I thought was bad! I'm really liking that 3rd picture with the panel that's partially white and the pattern fabric on the bottom. I think that would be an easy thing to do with premade panels - I'm going to make a note of that one. Great pictures!

You wanted to know if we're participating in Inspiration Fridays. I am today - I have pictures up of different ways to decorate with plates.

Since I am pretty new to blogging, I'm not sure what Inpiration Friday is really suppose to be about.

I would love for you to list your favorite magazines and your favorite inspirational books. My goal is to have a blog by this Fall. My little one starts Kindergarden and I hope to join this wonderful land of inspiration!! Thank for sharing your home! Stacey

  10. Oh, i am so glad that you found your way to my blog ;) I have been visiting your blog many times, and i always get so inspired of your posts :) And i love your choice of colours! (I am in love with colours)
I am not shure what you meant, but i used stirred eggs on top of the bread before baking. If you meant on top of the slice of bread, it is a delicious cream-cheese with a taste of garlic and then a couple of grapes. JUMMY!
    See you soon! ;)

  15. I love all these photos. I'm particularly interested in the second photo of the living room with the fireplace. Can you share it's source? The thought of light linens for summer makes me feel cooler just thinking about them. I'd like to hang half curtains in my breakfast room to block some of the heat in the summer.

I usually blog inspiration on Fridays. I missed this week because I didn't have a spare minute to browse through my favorite mags or books.

  18. Jen, I love all of the window treatments you posted. I really love that room with the toile brown and cream curtains with the bamboo shades - I really like all of those curtains. I have plantation shutters at my house and really love the look of them - they really make a statement. Also, the linen curtains with the buttons and ties are so pretty, clean, and simple - such a lovely look. Thank you Jen!

  19. Also, wanted to mention that I do Inspiration Fridays, but it seems to only happen about every other week as I can't seem to get my act together on a consistent basis every week to find the inspiration, get a good picture of it, and get it posted. I always love your inspiration pictures though - we have such similar tastes.

  28. Okay, picture number three. I remember that house. I think it was in "Cottage Living" but I'm not sure. I loved how she covered her ceiling with the maps, did you see it? Oh, and she put picture frames hung from ribbons around her fat vases. Love that. Okay, I'm heading to the garage to dig through my old magazines. Gotta find it.
