This beautiful bloom is for my dear, sweet, loved friend Carrie. She is pregnant after years of loss, bills, sadness, frustration and procedures. And waiting. Waiting to ovulate, waiting to take a pregnancy test, waiting for the first 12 scary weeks to pass. Welcome to your 2nd trimester my friend! I'm beyond excited for you, Chris and Maya. What a wonderful family your little one will be born to. Love you.
Speaking of waiting, my peonies have finally opened. I believe this one is a Sarah Bernhardt variety. Is there anything in the world more beautiful than what nature gives us everyday?
This is my favorite flower and also happens to be the Indiana state flower. I take that as a sign that I was meant to live here.
What's your favorite cottage flower?
Hi Jen.
ReplyDeleteI know, waiting is torture, but it usually pays off in the end :o)
Hope your friend is gonna be ok this time, keep my fingers crossed...
Love peonies, definently my favorite cottage flower!!
Enjoy :o)
That is so nice. Beautiful flower.
ReplyDeleteI am partial to roses and hydrangia.

My heirloom peonies are finally starting to open, too!!!...beautiful!!...my favorite flower is a toss up between peonies & tulips...sending positive thoughts to your friend!!!...Lacy
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful news for your friend. That beautiful peony is a symbol of all the miracle of nature...just like babies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post. My best wishes to your friend. Peonies are definitely my favorite cottage flower, but as you know, hydrangeas are a very close second!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I will try to post some more pics of my picket fencing this evening. I will also check the paint color. It is the same white as the trim on the house.
Beautiful peonies, I love them!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post about your friend, will be praying for a healthy beautiful baby for her.
How exciting, finally a sweet little one.
Lidy
I also love pink peonies - but don't have them because we already have ant issues and don't need more. My second favorite would have to be pink roses, especially cabbage rose variety with sweet a perfumed scent.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious friend you are Jen...that warmed my heart! I adore Peonies...like in a huge way. Not enough sun in my yard though for me to give them a go. Favorites for me would have to be my beloved hydrangeas...right now the lacecap especially.
ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous peony...love the subtle pink color. I love hydrangeas.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for your friend.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is blue hydrangeas. Love them! I also like the Old English Roses too. Blue hydrangeas and pink roses...my favorite bouquet.
What a sweet post!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite flowers - although somewhat ordinary - are roses!
God bless :)
Such a nice post, Jen. I'm sure your friend will benefit from all the positive thoughts going her way after you sharing her story with your readers.
ReplyDeleteDaisys are my favorite. Always appropriate, always cheerful and sweet.
What a wonderful blessing for this family, I'm so happy for them. A child is such a beautiful gift and I know especially for those who have tried so very hard. I wish them much happiness and love! Dawn
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness what a beautiful peony...I am green with envy! I bought some at Trader Joe's here in Ventura CA and love looking at them but they did not really last long enough :-( Thank you for sharing your beautiful blooms.
ReplyDeletePeonies are one of my favorite posies, too...just bursting with beauty (ants, too!).
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your sweet friend. How lucky she is to have you!
Laurie

ReplyDeleteI am going to add you to my blog links- 1 your blog is lovely and anyone who loves the Barefoot Contessa is a kindred spirit! And 2, I want to be able to follow your friends journey to motherhood!
ReplyDeleteHow absolutely sweet of you! I also had a similar journey to your friend & can tell you that the support of our friends during the process was invaluable.
ReplyDeleteI too love peonies!
Oh not sure I can decide between peonies and real old fashioned English rambling roses. I think the roses just get it. Lots of luck to your friend. I have a friend who has been tying for a baby for years so I can understand. I hope all goes well for her.
ReplyDeleteHow great for your friend. I have been living her battle first hand, and I am so happy to hear it has worked out for her.
ReplyDeletePeony's are my favorite to.
If I had to choose one it would be hydrangeas, or floxgloves...I luv them all!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for your friend! I'm wishing her the best!

Dear Jen
ReplyDeleteWhere do I begin...I love you too, sweet friend. I'm so lucky to be part of your every day life. It's so hard to put into words what I'm feeling these days. I think this says it best:
You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
DREAM IT ANYWAY
God is great, but somethimes life ain't good
When I pray, it doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway...Martina McBride
Thanks to all of the good thoughts that were sent my way. Luv, Carrie
