Gettin' My Craft On

I've been thinking a lot lately about how much I miss taking time to be creative. I've been in a bit of a funk with it this past year but I'm ready to break free and get my craft on. Be prepared to see more of that around here. For me it's all part of being a cottage style, vintage lovin' freak. I'm feeling inspired to make some ornaments like my Momma made when I was a little girl. Sadly my share of them got lost in our move to Miami several years ago. The one above I recently found at a thrift store.

If you want to get inspired to get your craft on for the holiday season, go check out Amy Powers Inspired Ideas online magazine. I'm making this wreath by one of my favorite crafty ladies, Charlotte Lyons, right away.

On another note, thank you all for your support and for sharing your own stories on my last post. It meant a lot to me.

  1. I hear you! If you read my latest post you'll see I have been in a crafty funk as well...I tend to be more crafty in the winter when I am stuck indoors more :)
Great to see you're back as well! May the crafty force be with you!:)

  2. I've been thinking I need to do the same. I am so busy sometimes I get lost in schedules and work. I need a little "me" time in the studio. Nothing soothes the soul like a glue gun, some tunes and a drawers of trinkets and treasures! ;o)

    Happy day!

  3. L-O-V-E that last white wreath bunches! ...

Geez say that 5 times fast!

  4. oh i love it when you get your craft on!

ok....the last post is a must read. i've been gone for days & need to catch up...

  5. Jen,
I want to thank you for making me your reader of the week! I am honored to to featured over there on your sidebar...because you are a big time blogger! (and i am not...) I see we have love for Amy at Inspireco in common. I can't wait to see what crafty goodness you dream up...

  6. I have several that my hubby's grandmother made...a lot like yours. We hang them every year and think about her. She was always crafting something. I too have been in a NO TIME TO CRAFT funk...seems like life just gets in the way sometime. Will be fun to see what you come up with! hugs-Diana

  7. i feel the same way. my scrapbook supplies are gathering dust. one of these days.

  8. Going to check out these links tomorrow on my day off. LOVE your beribboned, flowered, fancied up ornament.

  9. I adore that ornament. My grandma was always crafting... remember she was the Christmas house lady. Always sequins and a Lee Ward catalog on the table. I wish my mom would abandon the sequined fruit G'ma made. I told her I want dibs! Luckily my 3 sisters aren't into any of it!!
I am needing some craft time too. Coffee, music and lots of my stuff-Just feels so good to get lost in it!

  10. I SO need to do the same. You would think I too would be gettin' my craft on with my bum ankle, but I seem to be spinning my wheels a bit. Thanks so much for the inspiration! I agree, it is SO part of the living' the cottage life.
    Have a fabulous evening girl!

  11. The wreath is going to be so fun to make. It makes me want to run for the lace container and grab the glue gun! Maybe in the morning. Ha!

  12. What a great link, JJ. Lots of beautiful projects to inspire. Between your studio projects and your knitting festival, you'll certainly make up for lost time!

  13. Oh good, I'll be watching you get your craft on. I've been getting mine on too!

  14. OHHH, I loved that wreath will have to check that one out better! I too need to get crafty trying to find something to get motivated with. Traci

  15. I have already checked the book out, and such great ideas! I can't wait to get my craft room set up. Jackie
