Slipping in to Something More Comfortable

Here's my new mantra- stop dreaming and start doing. This slipcovered chair is the perfect example. I've wanted to do this for a couple of years and finally made up my mind. I Found a seamstress, bought $4 a yard cotton duck, gave her an inspiration picture and here we are- a chair that no longer makes me ask What was I thinking?. It makes such a difference in this room. You'll be seeing more of this room soon as we change it from the room the piano ate into a place where the girls can hang out with their friends. My brother is coming in a week and a half to take the piano, sweet hubby is on his way home right now with a flatscreen tv/computer monitor and we will be well on our way. I'll be back soon with more pictures and to ask for your opinions.

GOOD JOB!!!! Don't you love it when we get ourselves into gear! We all have great ideas and sometimes just hold onto them for so long....and it feels so good to accomplish them.

and WOOHOO about getting a flatscreen tv...I'm jealous. :-)

Oh, I love it! Looks perfect and the pillow coordates so well with the room. I've wanted to do the same, but I'm afraid of what a custom cover would cost. I've had premade cover on order (backordered!) and I can't wait to get it.

Are those builtin cabinets or free standing? If they are free standing, where did you get them? They are just what I am looking for. Thanks!~ Philicia

Oh my gosh, this is so funny. I have a room like that. My formal living room is so not what I imagined. I have a stupid goldish color couch that I thought I loved. Now all I want in that room is slip covered furniture - JUST LIKE THIS!!
I need to adopt that mantra. Good job Jen, it looks amazing already.

The chair looks great...perfect place to curl up with a good book or to watch the new flat screen! I need to stop fixating on the big costly projects and start working on the smaller ones and get them crossed of my list!

It looks fantastic! You must be so pleased. Thanks for the inspiration to get my butt in gear.

By the way, thanks for stopping by my blog. I just looked through all of your photos with the "my cottage" and "decorating" tags...it's a slow afternoon at work...and I'm in love. Great blog!

Your chair turned out gorgeous! I have a chair in desperate need of a slipcover. It's one of the few items that my husband brought into the relationship that I haven't gotten rid of, so I feel a certain sense of obligation to hang onto the thing. But it's a horrible shade of brick-red & currently sitting in the garage.

Where did you get your lovely birdy pillow? My house needs one!

Jen......I'm "green" with jealousy!Dont' make us wait too long for full views of the room.

What' the name of that great color on the wall?

Love the pillow! Where did you get the pillow?

... and the slipcover! Perfect. I have similar plans to cover the couches inthe great room. They are a lovely neutral chennile, but in the summer I would like to change out and put covers on them, just to give the whole room a different feel... like new furniture!

Your seamstress did a beautiful job! The chair and pillow are awesome against your sassy sage wall.

Just found your blog...I'm in Noblesville and could also use a good seamstress if you're willing to share his/her name! Love your blog...your work is awesome. TFS your talents with us.
