This weekend we are seeing 5 houses that are for sale in the Village. We are so excited and hopeful, although we know that since the selection is so limited we are not likely to find our dream house. We are hoping to find something we can turn into our dream house. I hope to share pictures with you next week from our house hunting adventures. Until then, here is what we are hoping to find in our next home.
A charming exterior preferably with a front porch
A good garage
A yard large enough to throw the ball for the dog and for a clothes line
Climbing trees and a treehouse or a spot for one
An open staircase
A kitchen that has a gas range and hasn't been renovated so that I can create the kitchen of my dreams without paying for a renovation that is not my taste.
A dining area that is separate but not formal.
At least 3 bedrooms
At least 2 bathrooms
A space for my studio
A fireplace
Good luck! I know there are some neat houses for sale in the village right now!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the things you are looking for. I hope you find your dream home this weekend Jen. And I can't wait to see pictures along the way.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and know that your dream house is on its way! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck and have fun !
Sounds like a very fair list...:) Good luck and keep us posted! Sandy
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait to "see" what you see this weekend! I can relate to all of your wish list, of course my husband would have the garage building at the top :)

PS When we moved to Red Gate Farm 6 years ago, we left a house with 2 full bathrooms and came to a house with just ONE... for four people! Surprisingly, there have not been too many issues with that... well except for the party last summer when the "commode" ended up in the front yard... but that's another story.
Good luck Jen. The pics you posted look like my dream house as well
ReplyDeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeleteWell your list is very similar to my list! I can't wait to hear how your house hunting goes - so exciting!

it doesn't sound like too much to ask...seek and you shall find.

You've put it out there, taken the steps, and you will most certainly find your home!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog so very much and have been so inspired by your move - not sure that I comment often enough but wanted to tell you so.
Loooovvvveeee your list!!! And just an FYI, even if you it doesn't have a gas range it's EASY to put a gas line in (that said, I'm assuming it's heated with natural gas or propane). We had an electric stove for 8 yrs and I finally put in a gas stove and LOVE IT!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteps- I can't WAIT to see the contenders!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love your list all the things that I would pick too, oh wait I have!It is my dream house, not everyone's. Still, I think this adventure would be soooo fun. Praying you find YOUR dream house.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are off to the start of an exciting new adventure...just remember there is NO perfect home and if you can get most of it you will be doing good. That being said, however...being the dreamer I am, I always think you can find PERFECT! Good luck and I can't wait to see your pictures. Hugs-Diana

ReplyDeleteThose are all very reasonable "wants", I think. We hope you have a successful weekend or at least an encouraging one, sometimes it takes a while to find that "special one".

Hi Jan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blog visit! I do hope you will make a few vintage spoon refrigerator magnets, they are fun and easy. They'd be especially lovely if made from your grandmother's spoons!
I just love all your inspiration photos! I need to do that more often, save the "looks" I like. We bought our home 19 years ago and are still making it what we want it to be. It would help if we'd stop changing our ideas so much! But, it keeps us busy and working together.
Wondering if you found a home this weekend, hope you did!
Hugs, Heidi
You want to buy mine? I don't have a REAL fireplace(electric, but cute!) and no stair case, only a few step ups and downs, but I have all the rest...and a pool...and a lake in my backyard! :) Hope you find your Dream Home soon!
ReplyDeleteJen, did you find your home?
ReplyDeleteI completely can relate. We rent in Zionsville too. I have hopes that we can buy the home we are in since it is an old farmhouse with 4 acres, but the price tag is not in our budget. Turns out it is actually incredibly cheap for the road we are on out here, but not in our budget.
Have you ever been to one of our sales? Your name seems familiar. Maybe it is just because our girls are in the same grade at the same school! We have a sale coming up this spring....I'd love it if you can make it!
so cute!!!!love your blog, great pictures! congratulations!
ReplyDeleteno, this is MY dream house!
ReplyDeleteJen,
ReplyDeleteWOOD burning fireplace? In my mind there is no other kind! and GAS stove? My Grandma had gas, my mother, me...dug has an electric stove. so sad.
XO, me.
