Hello Thursday! Where did you come from? This week brought with it a visit from a life long friend. The kind that knows all of my secrets and would never whisper a one of them. That friend. It's been a good week but there's more to come as I have another friend and her husband coming to town tomorrow. This little amateur B&B of ours is getting a workout.
I've been meaning to share our fireplace update with you. If you follow me on pinterest, you probably already know that I'm map crazy. The big map is of Paris which we will soon be visiting, the one to the right on bottom is of NC where my hubby is from and which we love and the one above it is of Sweden where my ancestors hail from and which happens to be, in my estimation, one of the most awesome places you could have ancestors hail from!
I'm loving that aqua arrow. Apparently I can't have a room without a pop of that color. I wanted to show you how it started life. We recently bought some new kitchen stools from Overstock and the picture below shows some of the packing materials from the box. When I saw this I knew immediately it was going to become part of our decor. I was a bit hesitant to tell my Sweetie of my crazy plan but when I did he laughed and told me he immediately knew I could use them for something when he saw them. Soul.mates. Just sayin.
We're making good progress in that room. I never thought I would like it until after we renovate and since that is a few years away, it's been a happy surprise how much I'm enjoying it. The other half of the room? That's another story!
I love the collage of maps! I'll have to remember that for my gallery wall.

I love your blog. But I find your aqua-colored fonts very difficult to read.
ReplyDeleteSo funny, we also have maps above our fireplace of places that we've been! I'm currently collecting globes to go in another corner of that room, to add to the "theme".
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that you saw those packing pieces as potential decorative objects -- I like the way that you think ;)
Beautiful maps! I love that they have such meaning for you.

ReplyDeleteoh, i love those maps. especially the nc one. that's where we call home, no matter where the air force sends us!
ReplyDeleteThat arrow is way too cool - and I love that you salvage it!! And I love maps too. I need to do something with maps in my decor sometime this year. I have a huge book of old maps that are mainly the old aqua and gold color so maybe for fall or winter. i love your aqua and pink for this time of year - will go beautifully into spring!
ReplyDeleteNo wonder I like you so much! I am mostly Swedish too! Our family is from Arvika!
