When my little one started kindergarten this year, I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself. I have since figured it out. Actually I have figured it out so well that I don't have nearly enough time in the day to get everything done. I've always said that I have too many hobbies to ever be bored. Don't you think that bored people are boring people?
I'm thinking cottagey, of course, with neutral walls that don't compete with what's being created. I want a huge inspiration board, open shelves for display with lots of baskets and glass jars for storage. I'm very visual and need to see what I have to work with. I'll have a daybed for guests and dreaming and I already have some furniture I can repurpose for this space.
I'm so excited about this project, about the future and about having a place to call my own. Don't worry though, there will still be room for guests. Just let me know when you are ready to come for a visit. Maybe we can even play together in my studio.
Jen I am so excited for you and for being able to vicariously live through you it will be so much fun to watch .... so are you taking up the paint brush??

Wow, sounds wonderful, Jen! I love the idea of having a room devoted to what you like to do. What kinds of things will you create? Will you be trying something new?
ReplyDeleteThis is really lovely...and very inspirational for those of us who are uncrafty :-)

I love all of your decorating ideas, very good job my friend. It will be so nice to have a little corner of your world just to call your own. Good luck and I am sure you will enjoy.
ReplyDeleteJen, this is a wonderful idea to claim this spot for your creative endeavors! Good for you for doing this now - instead of waiting until children are grown and gone! It's funny how our days fly by even if the kiddies are in school all day! I'm glad that we aren't "boring" people! ;-) I can't wait to see Jen's Studio come to life!
ReplyDeleteJen this will be such a wonderful room and you will get so much creative use out of it. I can't wait to see it's progress. It's going to be tons of fun for Jen! RJ
ReplyDeleteRaNae, Meg, Alyssa, Sharon, Kim, and RJ-
ReplyDeleteThank you all for being excited for me! We got started last night by switching out some of the furniture and we will finish that up this weekend. I'm working on choosing a paint color and will probably paint next week.
I do plan on trying some new things. I plan on doing some new paper crafts other than the cardmaking and scrapbooking that I currently do, also some sewing crafts and I have wanted to take watercolor painting classes for a long time so I'm going to see about signing up for that as well. I'm gathering ideas and there is no telling what I will end up making.

Jen - I can't wait to see what you decide to do. And I can totally understand that it was a big decision. I have been struggling with the idea of using the guest room for a different purpose as well. I'm so glad to hear that you are going to have your own perfect space! Please tell us your plans! Christine
ReplyDeleteYou sound like you are longing for a Ballards look space -- me too. We have a "bonus room" that I really should claim as my own and boot the air hockey table to the basement.

ReplyDeleteI highly recommend making space for yourself if you can swing it. I feel a little guilty about not having a space to totally dedicate to guests but I figure since I have to live here everyday I take priority!
What a beautiful and creative space you have! My space is 10x10... so your space is huge to me! :o)
ReplyDeleteMy ex John the Saint always used to say, "If you're bored, you're boring." I quite agree!
