The Accidental Shopper

I thought I'd share a few treasures I found this past week at the local thrift store (also known as the "junk store" by Emma). I'm always on the lookout for glass jars which is why I stopped in the first place. I also couldn't resist this little french metal tray, chick egg platter with salt and pepper shakers & lined basket. But mostly I'm loving these vintage Christmas ornaments that were hiding under a box of ugly red bows. Now, I'm not usually one to dig for the good stuff while shopping. Typically if it doesn't jump up and down and call out my name, it doesn't go home with me (that's also how I met my sweet hubby by the way, but that's another post). I don't know what posessed me to look beyond what was peeking out of that box. Would it be crazy to say it was fate? Were these beautiful vintage baubles meant to have a new life with me? I think this little discovery may have changed the way I shop. Forever.

  3. ohhh I love "Great finds" stories!! I am a gal known to get quite dirty if I have to...to get at the "good stuff"!! We have one of the BEST "junk shops" in NJ near us...I never ever spend more than 20$ and I come home with bags and bags of treasures every time!

Yes..you will now see that you are getting wilder and wilder with every junking trip! LOL!

Thanks so much for sharing! Happy to hear you had a great time!

  4. My son and thrifting sidekick, also calls the thrift store "the junk store". Rather embarrassing when one is actually in the store and he belts that out.
And "yes" you must dig, sort, sift and unearth real treasures.
    Happy thrifting! :)

  10. Wow, you found some lovely things. I love the glass jars, especially the smaller one. I'm also really bad at searching for the hidden treasures. I think you've inspired me to look a bit harder though after seeing all your beautiful finds.
