Vintage ornaments or cottage crack?

I don't mean to sound flip. I know addiction is a very serious topic. That's why I'm comparing. Ever since I found this box of vintage Christmas ornaments for practically nothing at the local Goodwill, I'm completely addicted. I've since made additional purchases at three different antique stores. I can't seem to stop. This little pretty in the original packaging is my latest score. It just made me want more. I know 2 of the dealers have more stash. I think I'm going back tomorrow for another fix. I'm jonesin' for Shiny Brites.

Hello my name is Jen and I'm addicted to vintage ornaments.

  1. You are in great company. I just finished decorating my small white Christmas tree with part of my collection of vintage ornaments. Mine all started with a great yard sale score many years ago.

  5. Love the vintage decorations, what a find! I haven't had time to buy any new decorations this year - too busy making everyone elses! Hoping that will change tomorrow, delivering wreaths and (fingers crossed) I might get a little ibt of retail therapy if I'm lucky! Ooh and I suppose I'd better do some christmas shopping too!

  6. I posted on my blog recently that I have too many ornaments, most of them vintage. So what do I do-look for more! My name is Chris and I also have a vintage ornament addiction.

  8. Not surprised you're addicted. Those pink baubles are beautiful. I haven't bought any new decorations this year but now I really want to start looking for some vintage things for next year.

  11. I have two boxes of "Shiny Brites" still in the rubbermaid tote in the shed! I love them too much to let them into my crazy house this year! There's just something so wonderful about the colors and patina, isn't there? Looks like you're in good company with your addiction!

  16. Oh babe, I am one of your tribe! I have over fifty big plastic tubs of holiday ornaments & decor, many of them vintage. And I am constantly buying more at thrift shops. DH is threatening to send me to a rehab program, but can't find one for Decorators Anonymous.

On the plus side, I decorate homes & businesses for the holidays, and present seminars on Holiday decor...so I really do USE all of the stuff I have, and manage to make money off of it!!! taking photos of setups for my blogs (and, ultimately, books in progress) helps, too.

(Which is, um, more than I can say for DH's woodworking tools that he collects.....)
