The Library

This is just a small sample of what I brought home yesterday. I love the library. I really do. I've had an ongoing love affair with books for as long as I can remember and it is showing no signs of ending any time soon. Yesterday was a big day for Emma, who got to use her very own library card for the first time. Do you remember that feeling of having your very own card? That is special. I remember I would check out as many books as they would let me borrow. I haven't changed much. I'm usually found wishing I had a wagon to get all of my items out to the car and I'm always just giddy at the fact that they let me take all of that stuff home for free. Free! Can you believe it? Our library also has a special area with books to purchase and I found this copy of Ethan Allen Style which I already own (fantastic book!) for just $1. Emma insisted on owning it, informing me that she loves decorating too and needs her own decorating books. How in the world could I say no to that? Love that girl.

So, I feel like I am letting many of you down in making this announcement, but here goes. I chose the khaki crocs (cayman style). They didn't have the butter in my size and Sweet Hubby just insisted that khaki was the color to get. Don't worry you color lovers. I'm pretty sure that I will reward myself with a pair of colorful ones before too much longer. Thank you all for your input. I knew I could count on you. Thank you also for your encouragement and support. You are the best group of Bloggies in the entire world. Also a big Hello to all of you that posted for the first time and to those of you too shy to say hi.

  1. I'm not disappointed even though I am a color lover. I'm just thrilled to know that there is one more croc-convert in this world.

    Keep it up!

  2. Jen, I like the khaki crocs. I'm wondering if I should buy a pair.

I love going to the library. There is a nice book scent to a library, that evokes wonderful memories of walking to the library and the adventures I've found there! Yes, I'm a reader!!

PS:I have a post at the back porch re: Mackinaw lodging. Hope it's helpful!

  3. Jen, I voted for the khaki, so yay for you! I also love going to the library & like you, have been going since I was a child. Always got my 5 books per checkout & love reading. In fact, that was my first job...working at the public library after school. I have that same EA Style book, since I used to work there, I ended up with about 4 copies that sit on my bookshelf. It's a good one to refer to.

  7. Don't forget to pick up some Jibbitz (http://www1.jibbitz.com/) to decorate your Crocs!

I need to stop at the library. I love it, but don't make it there as often as I would like.

  8. rofl.......Jen you crack me up! I love our library as well...so does Hunter! They keep him in his Magic Tree house books quite well! I love your crocs and am pondering being an owner of some soon. I saw a lady come in the other day at scrapbook store that had little flowers on hers ...they were all decorated up so were her daughters. cherry

  9. I have just rediscovered my love of the library. I got a new card and had forgotten how much I enjoy going. We used to have the bookmobile come around in the summertime (much like the ice cream man) and I absolutely loved it!!!!

  10. I worked in a library for 8 years - it was fun getting first dibs on the new books! =) You know, the khaki crocs are kinda growing on me. They'd go with anything! A friend of ours (male) has lime green crocs... they go with NOTHING (well, nothing in a man's attire)! heehee

  11. You know I really like the khaki. My kids get crocs every summer but I have yet to indulge. I like your idea to use it as incentive.

Ah, the library. What a wonderful place. I love that she had her first card. That is so special!

I just bought and watched the Holiday. So fun!

    Cheers! LA

  12. Gosh, reading this post brought back memories! I grew up in a fairly small town and our library was located in an old building in the downtown. To this day I still remember the scent of that library!

Aren't those croc the most comfy shoes you own. They feel like you are walking on marshmellows!

  13. Oh, Jen...you and homedaisy are starting to convince me that I need Crocs, too. They look great on my kids, and your feet look cute in that picture. But mine seem to get about 3x as large when I try a pair on. hmm!

  14. Love your Crocs! I got some hot pink last summer, they are so comfy. In fact, I think it's time to dig them out! Don't cha just love the library? We do. In fact, I joined our " Friends of the Library" just last week!

  15. I almost bought some hot pink ones that had these big jewels on them yesterday! They were comfy! I've always loved the library and never could understand how some people don't even know where their local library is. It's always the first thing I look for when we move!

  16. oh! cute! and i admire you for showing your feet on your blog...they're bee-you-tee-ful! Mine are horribly awful. No one would read my blog anymore. : ) Oh, and I have a similar library stack on my dresser. I would love to see pics of your daughter's room. I need inspiration. Blessings!

  17. Never mind. the khaki look good, too, and i might just need to buy myself a colourful pair (and it would never do to have them matching, would it?....)

  18. I'm always afraid people are looking at me and my girls exiting the library and raising their eyebrows at my eccentricity. I always carry a Ha-YUGE stack of books and my girls are getting just as bad. Jacy got her first library card this winter and I still have my first one. Love the library. Love it. And love the online library where you can request anything under the shining sun for FREE!

    PS I like the khaki!

  19. I've been so busy lately I didn't get to comment on the previous post but I would have said the khaki ones anyway. They're great. Love the fact that Emma wants her own decorating books. Always good to start early!

  20. ok, so that "too shy to say hi" comment got me!! i know i would LOVE for every single blogger who visits my blog to drop a note, so I will on yours. 1st, I love your layout colors!! 2nd, great crocs! I just recently bought a black pair, same style. My mother-in-law has 2 pairs, one also in the mary jane style. She went on and on about them...at first I thought it was just her...until I bought my own. I do wear them ALL the time & can't wait for our wet weather to be gone so I can wear them out!!! I love the kacki color also! Ok, sorry this is so long...........

  21. Hi! We have a mobile library which visits the village every Friday - amazing what they carry! I've always loved books too, I used to read a book a week but haven't the time these days! Have a lovely weekend! Clare x

  22. Wow! We have a lot in common!
Not only did I also recently buy my first pair of Crocs (fuschia!!), but I have recently fell in love with the library again and got my daughters their very own cards. It's so cute to see them put their books up on the counter and timidly hand over their library cards that they signed themselves!
