We adopted this little beauty yesterday. I happened upon it on Craigslist and I was smitten. I looked at it all weekend and finally got the nerve to send an email inquiry and wouldn't you know, Holy Empty Wallet, it was still available. A pleading call to Sweet Hubby to see if we could go pick it up after he got off work Monday and next thing you know we are the proud new parents of this beautiful antique secretary.
It fits perfectly in this space that I've kept empty these past 4 years while I looked for just the right piece at just the right price. I'm the poster child for waiting to get what you really want. And since you girls know how I like to crow about a good deal, I thought I would share with you that it only cost $200. Granted with all the expenses involved in back to school time it is not the very best time to buy an antique secretary, but how do you say no to a face like that? Besides, if necessary, I can sit at my secretary, open the top drawer and take out some of my stationary, open that small drawer on the right and choose a pen, pull the desk top out and draft a letter to the school explaining why my children's book fees will not be paid on time.
Holy Cow! Only $200! It pays to wait until the right thing comes along. It's gorgeous and it looks right at home!

What a beautiful desk! I love it, I am going to start hitting craigs list in my area. I keep seeing great stuff that other people found there.
ReplyDeleteThat is glorious! Well worth every cent of the splurge.
