I think I must have a collectors heart, which greatly conflicts with my desire for things to be uncluttered. That must be why I'm drawn to things that aren't just pretty but serve a purpose as well. I recently came across this large blue Ball jar at a thrift store for $1 and it was love at first sight. It doesn't hurt that I'm currently obsessed with the color blue. I found the 2nd one at an antique store for $2. I now have the beginnings of a new obsession, I mean collection. You know you have a problem when you start asking people to get you blue jars for Christmas.
Then while exploring Teresa Sheeley's blog French Poppy, I discovered this original print for sale in her Etsy shop. I just had to own it as a celebration of my newest collection. I can't wait to hang it in my studio. What an inspiring thing to look at while I'm working and playing.
Oooo!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE that print!
Hope you are doing well :)
I pop in to check on you all the time, but I'm rarely signed in, so I don't comment much.
Love your blog!

Those are pretty, Jen. I found a set of 3 of those blue jars earlier this summer at a yardsale & sold them in my little shop. Mine had the glass lids too. You would have loved them!

Love the blue jars - very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of blue jars--what a fun thing to collect and the print is a beautiful addition to your collection.
ReplyDeleteI've had some of those ball jars. May still have, tucked away, back there in storage. The ones without glass lids are great with those old zinc lids. I used to have a bunch of those, too. I think J gave them to a friend when we moved.
ReplyDeleteThe print is wonderful!

I love ball jars especially the ones with zinc tops. I have a small collection in my kitchen. Right now they have candy corn and trail mix in them. And love your print! ~ Lynn

Cute blog story - love the print!
ReplyDeleteThe print is perfect for the collection. Love it.
ReplyDeleteOOhh! How fun is that!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you...if something is not pretty AND useful, it doesn't come into my house. love the collage.
ReplyDeleteLove that print! What a perfect find!
ReplyDeleteIt's the same thing here - my love for collections conflicts with my need for organization. I love blue ball jars for the very reason that they're so useful in so many ways. I fell in love with them a few years back and have quite a few. Look out...that blue glass is addictive. I started collecting blue/green glass medicine bottles too! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great print!
Hi Jen, I can completely understand your obsession both with blue and the blue "ball" jars. I also managed to find one here in Australia at a swap meet. It has a cream painted zinc lid that goes very nicely with the blue. I'm never sure what to do with it so it spends its time travelling around the house being a part of one arrangement then the next.
ReplyDeleteI love the print and think it was such a lucky and appropriate find.
You have a very lovely blog indeed and I think you have been on my blog list almost since the start of it. Sorry that I have taken so long to leave a comment but please be assured that I have been enjoying your blog for ages...thankyou for sharing.
What a stroke of luck to catch that image of the blue jar. Now, you know that your new items to seek are good things--they have been validated by fate.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen - that is just perfect with your new collection - I love the colors and composition - enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOff to England on Monday - will check back with you later.
Have a super weekend.
OH!! What a lovely print!! Oh, you are so lucky to be the next owner, love the colours and it fits ferfectly with your new old blue jar :) I would have been so happy

ReplyDeleteJen..I got a couple of blue jars...from a yard sale a few months back...If you send me your address I would love to send them to you. I Love them but I think you would appreciate them more!
ReplyDeleteI collect antique canning jars too and must see if I can find a print like that as well. I do hope you enjoy my book, The Prairie Girl's Guide to Life!, which has a great bread-and-butter pickle recipe in it for you to put those jars to good use.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE blue Ball jars too! I have a few myself, and recently spotted one in a local antique shop for $10!!! I'm holding onto mine... ;)
