This past couple of weeks, I've spent too much time in the above position. That combined with all of the peppermint bark and fudge I consumed and whatdayaknow, I'm wearing 3 extra pounds across my backside and thighs. I love to bake, especially at Christmas. I even tried freezing the goodies to keep myself out of them. Turns out, the only thing that tastes better than frozen fudge is frozen peppermint bark. Who knew? Hopefully that is a lesson I will remember next year.
I'm getting a jump on the new year and I'm getting moving now. I've been breaking in my new shoes and making sure my treadmill isn't lonely. I've hung this inspiration board beside the treadmill to keep me going when I feel unmotivated. I put a smaller version inside the door of my pantry. Silly? Yes, but it's working. I find it easier to be successful when I have a goal so mine is to shape up by March 1st when Sweet Hubby gets his bonus and you'll find me here and here rewarding myself.
Good for you--I need to do the same thing. Instead of waiting, I think I'll follow your cue and get moving.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have the very same pajamas--love them!
I too am not waiting. I love your idea for an inspiration board and am going to make one for myself.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya. Great idea to hang the pics next to the treadmill.
ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration board. I will have to try that.
ReplyDeleteGreat that you are getting moving! I just received the book _Younger Next Year for Women_ and it recommends exercise almost every day! Thanks for inspiring me to get moving!
ReplyDeleteYour clothes-y inspiration board is a great idea. I have a similar one inside my wardrobe to try and remind me not to dress like a bag lady. It is partially successful.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore your inspiration board. I have now found that Christmas and a holiday to the Caribbean in 6 weeks don't necessarily go hand in hand - the diet sheet beckons methinks!
ReplyDeleteJen, I love the idea of your New Years Inspiration board. A shopping trip to Anthropologie is certainly the perfect motivation :-} Wishing you a Very Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I renewed our gym membership for Christmas so I hope that gets me moving again.

ReplyDeleteI love that inspiration board--what a fabulous idea! I'm the same as you...I'm not waiting for the whole New Year's resolution thing...the day that I returned to work this week, I brought my sneakers & took a walk at lunch & plan on continuing it most days. It was really great to get out of the office & get moving!

Hi there. Stop by my blog. I'm having a party for a friend of yours.
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Nan
Your have read my mind about the treadmill, How long and what pace on the treadmill?
ReplyDeleteJust getting a chance to catch up on your blog - Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the inspirational board, what a great idea. Now if I could only motivate myself to put one together and get on the treadmill I'd say I'm doing ok...it's the motivation where I'm lacking!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh about the frozen fudge and peppermint bark. I did the same thing with some decadent butter cookies I made at Christmas. It is amazing how good frozen goodies can taste! Good luck on your journey to better health and fitness. I know you will do just great! Amy
ReplyDeleteI have loved reading your blog... so inspiring, so fun to read!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I wish many many blessings for you in 2008.
Hugs!

I found out that Nigella Lawsons chocolate pistachio fudge tastes better straight from the freezer too! Not good! I love your idea for motivating yourself. It's definitely hard to think about exercising when it is so cold and dark outside as it is here. But a good reminder of why you're doing it definitely helps.
ReplyDeleteThat inspiration board is a GENIUS idea! I'm trying the work-out route myself, and things are moving so slowly! :)
ReplyDeletethe orange Boden vest slayed me, too...
