Birthday Boy

Today we celebrate the 38th birthday of my favorite guy in the whole world. I don't know if I can convey to you how very loved this man is. We have been through so much in our 8 years together and I can honestly say that each challenge has brought us closer together.

This man was brave enough to marry me and accept Maddie as his own. He has never once referred to her as his stepdaughter and gets offended when someone else does. She is his, as surely as if she had his blood coursing through her. Most people don't even know that she is not biologically related to him, because he would never mention it.

He is the silliest Daddy and thrives on making all of us laugh. We are his world and he is ours. I hope that our girls grow up to marry men just like him.
He lives in a house with all girls and I think he secretly likes it that way. He is worshipped accordingly. He is not afraid to twirl a baton, answer the door in a boa or go to the store with clips in his hair. He doesn't care what people think (not always a plus) and puts his girls first.
He won't hesitate to roll down the hill with his daughters in the middle of a very crowded Renaissance Faire. Over and over.

He loves the outdoors and is always happiest exploring it with us. He is a real guy's guy. I wish my dad could have met him. He would have loved him. Well, as much as he would be able to love any man that took his little girl away.

He is a wonderful provider, giving, loving and loyal. I can't imagine life without him and I'm so glad that I didn't spend my life settling for less. He is not perfect but he is perfect for me. Happy Birthday Sweet Hubby. We love you.

  27. Jenn, what a WONDERFUL tribute to a fantastic man! I have to say, I'm blessed to also be married to a man who couldn't give a diddly squat what other people think about his clothes, his car, his house, whatevah. He's also an outdoorsman. Wonder if there's a connection there, between a man loving nature and not being hung up on the trappings of society?

At any rate ,it's pretty clear to me that one reason he's so happy is that he knows he landed a GEM of a wife!

The photo of him w/ Maggie is priceless, as is the hill-rolling! And I love the visual of him answering the door in a boa! That is a hoot!

    Really touching post!
