For your entertainment purposes here is a sample of what I've surrounded myself with. For those of you who love a good theme, go ahead & envy me. The rest of you feel free to laugh.
I'm not even going to show you the roosters that I've already made the commitment to get rid of.I'm just saying, if you like things with feathers, you may want to come to my upcoming garage sale, but come early. I think these things will just fly out of here.
So, I don't know if it's a life stage thing or what but I'm feeling weighed down by stuff. I feel the need to pare down what I own to things that a)have special meaning b)are beautiful c)are useful and d) I love. I feel lighter already.
I love bird things. Send them to my address at ... LOL. Just teasing. But I do loove bird things. Hope you have fun getting rid of stuff! It sure does make one feel refreshed.
ReplyDeleteLove every single bird and nest!! All of it looks like things I would have in my own home! Love what you have done! :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty.. I love this. Things like that make you feel at home.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I like the whole nesting theme but I know how you feel. I had a similar experience a few years back. Sometimes you need a change.
ReplyDeleteHa ha - I think I own 5 bird cages...so you are not alone!
ReplyDeletePlease stop by my blog and read about a creative contest I am holding with a great prize. If you are not interested - please forward it onto as many people as you can. Thank you!
You do not know how hard I laughed when I read about how you found it disturbing. hahahahaha. But if it makes you feel better, I love all your birdies; they are lovely and springtimey.
ReplyDeleteI have a nest collection/addiction but it is on purpose and I think authentic to who I am. Of course I don't buy everything that has a nest on it - I try to be somewhat selective, but I am a sucker for lots of nest-y things. If you just feel the need to purge you can send the pillow and plate my way...ya know, if you need to. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI've been told that 3 of anything makes a collection...so low and behold, a collection it is! I do think that it's great to stop and try to identify the most special pieces to savor...so you're surrounded by what you are really passionate about. Good luck with garage sale prep.
ReplyDeleteI love your bird theme! If I lived by you I would definitely be at your garage sale an hour early!! I also loved your post about your idea book. It really motivated me to make mine happen! I have all the pictures and clippings, but putting it together is another. It can't be that hard! Thanks for your beautiful and inspiring blog!!
ReplyDeleteI love every single thing. Purge if you must....you will make others very happy. Wish I could come to your yard sale :-) Rosie
ReplyDeleteI love that little plate with the bird's nest! Wherever did you find it?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE birds and am drawn to anything with a bird/nest/egg on it :-}. Love every one of your bird items especially that gorgeous green pillow!
ReplyDeletekinda freaky, huh? Just dont start hanging out at the park with a big bag of bird seed letting them sit on your well coifed hairdo..
ReplyDeleteWe might have to have an intervention,then- My dear..

ReplyDeleteI love your birdie theme. Classy and cottagy at once.
ReplyDeleteI understand the need to pare down possessions. I was making a similar attempt before spring fever hit. There is just too much stuff in our home. Maybe in our lives, too.
Have fun with your garage sale prep.
I love birds... any kind; real, not real.... :) yours are lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhen you have time come visit the house in the roses, we are having a dessert carnival… come and participate. It promises to be FANTASTIC!!!

While I'm not nearly as organized about my junk, I do have places where I stash stuff that I don't want to use at the moment...but don't want to give away or sell either. Of course, sometimes I completely forget where I stashed the stuff....hate when I do that! You will have so many lovely items for your garage sale. Good luck, Jen.
ReplyDeleteHey Birdlady,
ReplyDeleteHowd the big sale go???
I have a bit of a bird theme going on here, too...I can't resist a pretty nest or iron bird...I am scaling back slowly, however, as I don't want it to take over. What I will move on to, I have no idea!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Linda
Seriously jonesing for those square Johnson Bros. plates. If you decide that they have to go, please shoot me an email.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention that I collect sheep. And angels. And stars. And hearts. And red things. Molly Brown would be *very* happy here!
ReplyDeleteShame that am far from where you are!
ReplyDeleteI love your birdcage and i wish i own one!

You have such a beautiful blog. And your things are equally lovely. I am new to the blogging world and really found inspiration in your site. Thank you. I will continue to read and hope you will visit me as well. By the way.... after reading this, I realized I have many bird items as well scattered about my home :)
ReplyDeleteSo. Many. Great. Things. I enjoyed your unintended theme. Best wishes with your garage sale.
ReplyDeleteI have a few birds myself. I also have that print with the egg. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI was feeling the same way about my kitchen with roosters. I ended up getting rid of a couple.....but I suppose as long as we like what we're doing.....who cares what someone else may think right. We live there.
I have been on a "get rid of it" rampage. Needing a change, too much "stuff" or boredom... not sure, but Goodwill will be pleased with my bags and bags I am sending there way.
ReplyDeleteHow Peaceful! I love your vignette.
ReplyDeleteI also asked myself why it is that I find bird related things so attractive. I think they represent freedom, and maybe productivity. I mean building a nest can't be easy, but what a sense of accomplishment a little birdy must get!
