When a Plan Comes Together

And so begins a new project at The Cottage Nest. I'll have you know that it was not my intention to work on the dining room next. I was all set to start on the study. But then something happened. The dining room spoke up and demanded my attention. A handful of paint chips & fabric samples casually tossed on a tray in the middle of the table rearranged themselves into an actual plan. Things started falling into place in a way that doesn't usually happen here and it was clear that I had no choice but to pay attention. Here is your peek into my plan. That paint color behind the picture is the main attraction. Work begins tomorrow under a cloak of secrecy provided by Sweet Hubby's imminent business trip. What he doesn't know, he can't veto.

  2. It already looks pretty. Since I'm crazy about paint chips do you mind sharing the color name?. I'm currently waiting to put up "rice pudding" on my dining room walls.

  6. Everybody needs to double click on that photo to get an up close and personal look. I love, love, love everything. I want to copy you and do that in my dining room and living room. I just bought a glut of brown transferware and beach glass blue or robin's egg blue as you have chosen are my new favorites. I want it EVERYWHERE.

Alas, the mother-in-law (who lives with us) paid for and had draperies made 14 years ago in colors that are so 14 years ago. But she's of the generation that they should last for a lifetime. YIKES. I want them gone.

I'm really waiting to see how this all plays out in your space. Please post more pictures. I'm very excited for you. He's gonna love it, especially if he doesn't have to do any of the work.

  9. Remember, it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. :) Every once in awhile I call my husband at work and say "I did something..." and he knows I ripped up some carpet to see what was underneath, or started laying tiles, or... You go!

  15. Hey Jen,

I don't sell Home Interiors anymore. I almost bought those charges several times as well but I have seen similar ones in other stores. Walmart even had them at one point in the fall for CHEAP.

I see you have started a new project. It's hard to tell in this picture but is the wall color blue and the plate is black or brown? What color is your dining room now? Awhile ago I redecorated my dining room and changed the red walls to gray. I need to blog about it one of these days. I can't wait to see your progress. Can we get some more sneak peaks?
