My Big Fat Greek Posting

Here I am! I've been missing you guys. We had company for several days and the prep & cleaning involved before & after the visit has been keeping me plenty busy. I feel like I have tons to share, none of it necessarily related but swirling around my brain anyway.

So, I'm I am just a big ball of technicolor excitement now that Pushing Daisies is back on the air. Somehow I managed to miss 2 original episodes last year so I am seriously considering buying season 1 on DVD. Speaking of DVD's. The Barefoot Contessa has a DVD available at Target that I think is going on my Christmas list. You listening Santa? Oh and I think then I'll probably need this little beauty from the Martha line at Macy's. What's that you say? My 15 year old kitchenaid mixer works just fine? I'll have to see what I can do about that.
Speaking of Christmas, our chilly temps this week gave me the urge to pull out my Christmas music. I started with this CD and I'm now working my way through my whole holiday library. I listen to it non stop for about 4 months. I usually keep my windows rolled up while listening to it at this time of year because my self esteem isn't high enough to subject myself to that kind of ridicule.

I really need a new coat. I love this one from Boden but it's a bit more than I want to spend. I want something that has this kind of fun but classic look. But then the question becomes:

Practical brown?
or

Fun loving blue?
So except for a time consuming project (chair slipcovers) and a budget consuming project (a new china cabinet) my dining room is done. You can see more pictures over at the Homegoods Openhouse blog.

  5. Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only one listening to Christmas music! I didn't pack mine away with the other Christmas stuff this year, just kind of tucked in with my other CDs. Then the other day, I was staring at my CDs thinking, I just want to listen to something light and fun, something I can sing along with as I do housework. So I put one in.

Not that I'm admitting this to anyone else, mind you (though now that you did, I just might have to blog about it).

  6. You are too funny! I usually break out the christmas music early too, not quite ready yet though. I would keep my windows rolled up too, in fact I have been listening to George Michael's 25 cd and keep my windows rolled up, I didn't think anyone else wanted to hear Wake me up before you go go lol.
I also vote for the blue coat, and love your dining room.

  18. I am loving your blog. Thank you for sharing.

Question....I looked up those dream homes in Byron you showed us and I am dying to know what color paint you think the "Coates" and "Cole" house used in their kitchen/family room. I want that color in my house too. Any ideas? Thank you a ton!

  19. I'm am loving your blog! Thank you for sharing. I have a desperate question about paint color. I read the blog on "the dream homes" in Byron. Do you or anyone else know the color of the walls in the "Coates" or "Cole" homes? I want so badly to repaint my family/kitchen room in that color. Any suggestions?

  20. Your dining room looks beautiful!! Oh, and I'd play it safe, and go for the brown coat. So much more serviceable!! (That probably says a lot about me, doesn't it?)

Please stop by my blog. I am hosting a great give-away, again, with (our perfect man) Matthew Mead. It involves his latest book, and a gift card from HomeGoods...except this time there are, basically, thirty prizes!! So, fingers crossed, you just might get lucky!!

    Have a great week!

  21. That mixer is awesome! I love Boden, too, but have never been able to bring myself to pay their prices.

Girl, I had no idea you were blogging for Home Goods, but that is really fantastic!

  22. I'm trying to be frugal right now, but I just about ran to Macy's when I saw that mixer! I've wanted a Kitchenaid for a long time, and the color on that baby just about seals the deal. It's quite a dilemma for me. :-)
