Well, here it is. The newest soon-to-be additions to our family. The Bosch Integra 30" dual fuel range and 30" over the range microwave. After much obsession, investigation and maybe a little whining, this is what I decided on. We also looked at the GE Cafe, GE Monogram, Electrolux, Kitchenaid and Jenn-Air lines. This model was rated top in it's class by Consumer Reports & with all the information and reviews out there it's nice to be able to rely on that. So that's the good news.
The bad news is that it's scheduled to be delivered in 26 days. Yes, 26 days. I have no oven for the next 26 days. Am I repeating myself? That's because I'm in shock. It's fall and I feel like cooking. Do you have any idea what percentage of my comfort meals require an oven? 94.7%. Okay, I made that up, but I want you to understand how hard this is for me. No baking for almost a month? So friends I need your help. Can you please hook me up with your favorite stove top comfort food recipe? Also, any one willing to mail me home baked goods will receive extra love from me. 26 days! Oh, I already said that, didn't I?
That is a long time to be without an oven!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite stovetop comfort food has to be chicken stew. My best friend's mother also used to make the best stovetop mac and cheese. I don't have the recipe but I'm sure you could find one!
Okay! I just think that you should be thankful that your new stove will be here by Thanksgiving. Well, I hope for your sake it will be here by Thanksgiving???? It is a beautiful stove so it will be well worth the wait. Debbi
ReplyDeleteI went through the same thing when we moved into our new house - the connections weren't in the right place. I found I relied on the crock pot a lot. There are recipes for desserts (like dump cake, fruit cobblers, steamed cakes etc.), as well as roasts and even lasagna.
ReplyDeleteI love what you have picked out!
ReplyDeleteCrock pots can be a lifesaver! I bet you will be able to get very creative without the oven. Share your ideas with us!

Love what you've chosen! I've head Bosch is a great brand and very reliable! 26 days is long but well worth the wait! Enjoy:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cadillac of a stove. Think stews, chilli, chicken spaghetti, spaghetti anything, baked potatoe soup, chilli mac, salmon patties-in case you're wondering, I hardly use my oven. Go to Boston Market for corn bread and you are done.
ReplyDeleteI hate waiting!
ReplyDeleteBuy it's so much fun when things arrive, isn't it?
Wow - that is one beeeeautiful oven!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if this might be of help, but this was a lifesaver for me...
ReplyDeleteWhen we went through our kitchen remodel, it was chaos!! While we were without our new oven, we used a toaster oven. They have improved so much since I had one in a small apartment a few years ago. There are convection toaster ovens in various sizes. It was perfect to bake some goodies in and definitely helped pacify me until the real one was installed.
Hope that helps!! By the way, the new one is sooooo gorgeous!

oooh a long time and no oven...good luck! looks like it'll be worth the wait though

That stove is gorgeous - totally worth the wait. It is also a great excuse for those nights you don't feel like cooking! FUN FUN FUN!
ReplyDeleteLove the stove! If you've never had them before, the continuous grates will change your life. They are the most marvelous feature invented.
ReplyDeleteDo you have an electric roaster? You could use that while waiting. Kim at http://inashoe.com uses her for everything, including cake baking, I think.
ReplyDeleteouch! better get that crock pot out too!
ReplyDeleteTwo words: Crock Pot!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great choice in stoves your going to love it even if it means waiting, But just think of all the cooking your going to be doing over the Holiday's.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess this means you won't be bringing one of your delicious home-baked breads for breakfast at SB. Dang!!
ReplyDeletei sure hope your stove from bosch turns out better than mine...the repair people have been here numerous times.....ack! it took four months to get one single part to make my oven door shut right and not let out the heat...and i have the microwave too...and 6 months new and the lights went out on it....my bosch dishwasher died one week after the year warranty...sigh! thank goodness sears is in business, they have been wonderful in keeping my kitchen functioning....and here i thought, after so much deliberation...that bosch would be so good....such a dissappointment and their customer service was nasty! whew! sorry.....your's will no doubt be wonderful and you will enjoy it forever!!! i think my stuff got made on a friday...hahahahahah!
