Oh, the Problems I Have

So, here's a little known fact about me and one you'll probably wish I hadn't shared. I love Hello Kitty. Which is to say that I love Hello Kitty entirely more than a grown woman should. This, it will not surprise you, is a constant source of entertainment for my family. This waffle iron below was a gift that I begged Sweet Hubby to get me for Christmas last year. I must say that I can't name a single other present I got, but I love me some Hello Kitty waffles regularly. I mean, whose day wouldn't be made a little bit brighter by the sight of Kitty and her friends in waffle form on your breakfast plate? Today I walked into Target and came face to face with a Hello Kitty stand bubblegum dispenser. My heart quickened. I wonder if there is space for it in my studio? More importantly I wonder if it can dispense dark chocolate kisses instead of bubblegum? That's perfectly normal, right?

  10. seriously. you crack me up, Jen! is it wrong that I'm already reliving my childhood through Ellis? I spied an easy-bake oven at Fred Meyer yesterday & almost bought it for her. 7-months isn't too early to start baking, right??

  11. My daughter wanted a Hello Kitty party for her 38th birthday two years ago. HE! HE! It was a lot of fun. Our mall has a store that sells tons of Hello Kitty items. Come and see me sometime and we will go there....by the way I live in Washington State.

Thanks for sharing....now I can stop wondering if my daughter is going through her second childhood. :-) Debbi

  12. Oh I loved the Sanrio [aka Hello Kitty Store] as a child. And now I enjoy shopping in it with Lauren! I had no idea you liked her so much! I wish I had known when you lived here, I would have done something special for you - something Kitty-ish!

I love the comment from Debbi about her daughter's 38th birthday! It just proves we're always young at heart.

I love Snoopy and my kids are finally into all things Snoopy and Charlie Brown. They even have my Snoopy stuffed animals from when I was their age.

  14. I'm with you sister! I'm in my thirties and every year for Xmas my parents put something HK in my stalking. My favorite was last year's gift which was a HK haiku poetry book with photos of HK in various places.H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S.

I wouldn't say that I need it but it's a bunch of fun having something that stays with you your whole life :-)

  15. I heart Hello Kitty to! Glad to hear I'm not the only one, I almost considered giving her up now that I'm a "grown up" 30 year old. I was pretty much forced into giving up my HK alarm clock, my husband teased my shamelessly about it! I also have the waffle maker, along with a HK glass tree ornament that is in my favorite "shabby colors"; pink and baby blue. Love the bubble gum dispenser idea, I would soooo fill it with chocolate coffee beans! For those days when a cup of joe just isn't enough!

  19. So funny! I can relate, as I was obsessed with Hello Kitty as a pre teen. The store was like an addiction. It's great to have something you love!

  20. I won't even go into all the abnoxious stuff I've found addictions too. I think we are all the same... all that stuff we could have when we were girls, we don't want to deny ourselves now! Just my 2 cents!

PS: if you really want it, I hope Santa comes through!

  33. That's so funny! A few years ago I bought my daughter a Hello Kitty CD player...the only thing is, I think I bought it because it brought me straight back to when I was a little girl, gazing with delight at displays of Hello Kitty merchandise--especially the school supplies, I loved that stuff!!!

There's even a Ravelry group (knitting) dedicated to Hello Kitty. There are some cuuuute patterns out there. Perhaps you could take up knitting? I have a very nice washcloth pattern I could share with you! =)
