There is lots of activity in the studio these days. Lots of playing and planning, dreaming and doing.
Along with that comes lots of mess. Some of it actually beautiful and inspiring like in the first picture. Some of not like in this picture. It must be cleaned up before I can begin a new project but it will always end up looking like this during the creating process.
Paint cards all over the place, hoping to pick that just right color. The color process can take months for me. I hope to decide by Friday and get this next project going this weekend.
More to come soon from this room, including the projects that caused this mess to begin with.
Oohhhh... I made a big mess during the holidays too - tried to blame it on the cat, but she looks too innocent, although I did catch her stealing ribbon again. Decided it was best to clean and organize my little studio would be good for the soul. Will post (confess) before/after photos later today. Art is MESSY, messy, messy - but can't do without it!

Looking forward to seeing your projects...but really, it's almost as much fun seeing your beautiful "mess"!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't help but notice the paint chips you're looking at. Are you considering them for your walls? Just thought I would offer a couple suggestions - that you may already know of - as I had very similar looking paint chips on my walls only a few short months ago.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen Vintage Map by Martha Stewart from Lowes? Or Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware?
Whatever you choose, I'm sure it will look great!
...but a pretty and creative mess!!!
ReplyDeleteThis thrilled my heart so....!! I am forever creating a mess. I was so inspired by this that I decided I would show my mess to all my friends. Something I rarely well.....never do! Thanks :)
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful mess btw!
ReplyDeleteIt may be a mess but I don't know if I have ever seen such a beautiful mess.
ReplyDeleteit is such a pretty mess though my friend & i can't wait to see what your creative soul puts together

The creative mind needs the mess in order to explore their possibilities. I had a friend who actually gasped at the state of my studio this past weekend. She asked me how I could possibly work in "that"? If/When my space is spic and span, that is a clear indication that I am not working, creating, or planning something fun to do. Your "mess" is much prettier than mine:-)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog waiting for dinner to finish cooking and it is wonderful! your mess looks dreamy to me...

Lovely to know that I'm not the only one who makes a different sort of collage work of art while creating something new. I have just moved my work area down from my shed to our dinning room, as it is very very hot in Australia at this time of year. I promised myself that I would keep it tidy, but after a couple of hours work this morning, the table is filled and the floor is covered in threads. I just don't think it is possible to stay tidy while working - besides it takes too much time. I say to people that I am messy - but not dirty. I love your blog and your work.
ReplyDeletep.s. you have a new follower!!
ReplyDeleteha!
the box on your shelf is beautiful!! I think your "mess" is pretty. Can't wait to see what is next.
ReplyDeletedon't you just love all this stuff though? what a time to be creative!
ReplyDeleteWith such a pretty blog as yours, I had to give you an award.
ReplyDeletePlease come by my blog and pick it up.

I wish I had a creative space...:( Your mess looks wonderfully creative...just perfect. When you find the perfect blue, let me know. I'd like to paint an old piece of furniture in my dd's room. Thank you for your lovely words...big smile!
ReplyDeletehave you tried French General's Plume Bleu? it is the most perfect turquoisey-blue color & looks great with reds, greens, pinks, & basically any color I've tried. I currently have it in my studio/guest room, and also in Ellis' nursery & am totally in love with it in both rooms. good luck ~ it always takes me for-ever to pick the perfect color, too!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having lots of fun Jen!
ReplyDeletejust stumbled across your blog! my sis in law lives in westfield! that's near fischers right? she's at athornamongroses.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThat ribbon bin looks oh so familiar....just like mine!! Can't wait to see what you created.
ReplyDeleteLooks a bit like what you might see in my craft area whenever I get into a real artistic and crafty mood. The mess is part of the creative process.:)Like Shilo says sometimes the messes we sometimes create can be quite beautiful too.;)
ReplyDeleteTake care!

you know! I love this mess! its so inspiring .. sometimes working in a mess helps with creativity.. there was an article somewhere that talked about this .. that those who work in very clean and organized spaces rarely get inspired! and those who work in a mess it helps their brain map work better! Great studio by the way! and LOVE your blog!
ReplyDeleteMessy rooms create some of the most wonderful items! Cheers to messy rooms... yesssssss... I have one!
ReplyDeleteDear Jen,
ReplyDeleteThank you for validating that a mess is ok!! :) See...you've made one follower of your blog just tickled pink!! I'm really looking forward to your future posts. I love you blog.
I love what your mess produces! I think the paint swatches are beautiful...have you already painted? If not, I vote for the top color that is hanging on the wall.
ReplyDeleteXO~Hope
