Saving Graces

On a day like today, when I'm feeling stir crazy and pouting because, if not for sub-zero temps and school delays, I would be in Bloomington playing with my friends Carrie and Hope, I'm going to try to focus on the positives.

Like this lovely view and that cheerful spot of aqua in the background. God bless whoever decided that the fire hydrants in my neighborhood should be painted my favorite color.

Like my beloved collections of Country Home and Home Companion magazines that I can curl up with in front of the fire.

Like a cup of cocoa topped with sprinkles to keep me warm as I scatter glitter in my studio.

Wishing you all a cozy, creative day.

  1. Hi Jen
Enjoy being cozy in your house today. Don't you just love curling up in your special chair, a nice warm cup and a good book. That's a recipe for a perfect day. I's a litle chilly here in Florida today. I know the 60's probably don't sound chilly to you today but it's a cool, cloudy day. I think I'll snuggle up with a hot cup of coffee and my Art of Blogging magazine. Enjoy your day

  2. It is cold here in the south too...definitely a good day to stay in. So sad that there will be no more Country Home, wishing I had kept more of my issues. Love the aqua fire hydrant...ours are black, they match our light posts and mailboxes!

  3. Snow makes everything look pretty. No matter how much I LOVE sprinkles, can you believe I have never thought about using it on Hot Coco.

  4. What I wouldn't give to have some of that snow! I live in Maryland and we haven't a single snow fall yet this year! Sure we've had a couple of flakes but nothing close to any accumulation! Cozy up by the fire and start reading the magazines (again!). Can you believe I have friends who actually THROW AWAY their decorating magazines after they've read them once.

    Shocking.

    Stay warm.

  5. I can't believe your fire hydrants are painted aqua!!! It's my favourite colour too! In our neighbourhood, they're bright fire engine red (not a favourite colour). Hmmm, you have a nice fabric collection there. Enjoy your day!

  9. I am sorry about your fun being spoiled, and wish I could come and read with you by the fire!!! Stay cozy, the warmth is coming eventually!!!

On the plus side, our children get to finally see some of the snow we have told them about in stories, right?

  10. I'm thinking of all my Indiana friends today and the bone chilling cold! Everyone down here was complaining about how cold it was (high 30's/low 40's) and I kept saying it could be worse...Pray for us that no pipes burst in our poor, empty little house!!

  16. I got up super early and captured newly fallen snow in the garden too! Amazing how a brush of cold air first thing in the morning can really wake you up! I loved your images today.

  17. Now being that it is 80 degrees here in So Cal, I can say I would love a snow day with hot cocoa. But the grass is always greener, right? Oh to cuddle up with a blanket and a stack of Country Living. Pure joy.
