I was tagged by the sweet as can be Karlene at Bloomstudio to post a picture that encompasses my interior design style. Since I was never one to follow directions, I've posted more than that. I just couldn't help myself. I think my style, much like my personality, is full of contradictions.
I love to pair the refined and rustic, light and dark, smooth and rough. I love marble and old wormy wood. I love linen slipcovers and chippy iron tables. I love rooms that have texture, layers and personality.
I love lots of natural light and soft cozy corners. I think every room should have at least one piece of furniture that is chipped, distressed or peeling. Since I'm on a budget, that part is easy for me to achieve.
Karlene, sorry I didn't play by the rules but if you knew me a little better, it wouldn't surprise you at all.
Just so pretty.

Delicious pics!!! Love them!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the pictures you chose, so we must have similar taste! I'm completely with you on the chipped furniture. I live with four "professional" distressors.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love, love. that's all I can say- because it's so true. I always think I need to add color, but then I see photos of a natural color palette, and my heart skips a beat!

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L....Love the chadeliers and I love the checkerboard floor in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI really love every photo. Looks perfect to me!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! My style is full of contradictions too. It's kind of a strange tightrope walk between a whole bunch of styles. You've defined yours beautifully though.
ReplyDeleteI am you. You are me. At least when it comes to our taste in decor. Your descriptions of what you like are exactly what I would say. The only difference I can think of is that I think every room should have two pieces of chippy furniture. :)
ReplyDeleteI understand that it would be hard to pick one. I love the creative work space! ~Kelly

ReplyDeletei've been in a blog funk lately but i HAVE TO SAY that i love the words, "my style, much like my personality, is full of contradictions"....BRAVO MY DEAR! i love the exactness of that and how i completely and utterly identify with that on so many levels dealing with so many things in life....i mean, you could be quoted two-hundred years from now....that...was....brilliant.
ReplyDeleteblessings.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE that you do not play by the rules. :-) and, I LOVE your styles!! thank you for coming out to play with me.
ReplyDeleteCan I move in..........love all of these rooms. I love romantic and rustic paired together too. I tried to accomplish this in my house in Seattle. In some ways I will be sad to say goodbye.....especially to my wood ceilings and chandeliers. The bedroom is to die for....so peaceful!
ReplyDeleteOh I wish I could just live in those pics... with 3 young children running around nothing will stay white for long.

The eat in kichen picture is REALLY pretty. With the doors open you can almost smell the summer air. Would love to be sitting at that table right now... possibly because we just got two more inches of snow last night. Oy!
