Making Do

I recently fell in love with the monogram decals below that I found at the etsy shop Decal Monograms. I really wanted these for the girls' bathroom. The decals are very reasonably priced, but with the recent budget cuts in the house, I thought I'd find another solution. I took 2 black frames I had sitting in a closet, some pretty cardstock and my trusty printer and came up with this $0 version. It's not as pretty as the decals but every time I look at it I feel good about the solution. To recap, free project + loads of back patting= priceless. As for the rest of you, go buy those decals! And share your projects with me so I can feel all envious.

  2. I love your creative solution! In fact, I usually love the cheap solutions that bloggers come up with, just because I love to see the creativity. Way more fun that way.

  3. You know what?!? I love those too, but as a poor college student I don't have the budget for them or want to waist them on a temporary apartment... SO I used Word to create the letters design and size like you did, but instead of framing them I scribbled the back with lead or charcoal and then used it as a rub on my wall then used craft paint and painted over the letter transfers on my wall. It takes about 2 coats and a little touching up! They look just as good as the stickers! And it's free! If you don't have the color less than a buck for the bottle!

  12. I love your take on the mongrams, and the price even better! I do have a little shopping tip about the decals though...I saw the single monogram identical to these (the decal version) at TJ Maxx' for $10 each...just in case your smash a piggy bank or something...

    Cheers,
