Better late than never, here I am with my Halloween pictures. I didn't want the holiday to pass without my recording it for posterity.
Although truth be told, I'm glad it's over. For some reason all of the extra clutter from decorations isn't working for me this year. It will all be gone today and it's got me thinking I might really pare down for Christmas this year.
Sweet Hubby always carves the pumpkins. There's a reason I'm not allowed to handle knives around my family during the holidays. I'll give you a small hint that hopefully won't be enough to be used against me in a court of law. Preschool Maddie+washing hands on chair at kitchen sink after making cookies for Santa+Mommy moving steak knife by sink for safety reasons+slipping kitchen chair=wound and permanent scarring on Maddie's shoulder blade. Let's say no more about it.
Of course Emma would have to try to eat the pumpkin guts. She won't eat a cooked vegetable to save her life but is a purist and prefers her produce fresh.
The dog suit. Every year with the dog suit. Every year with the looks of pity from other wives. Every year with me having to do the walk of shame around the neighborhood. It's enough to make me miss living in Miami where it was just too hot to step outside in it.
This was a very cold Halloween. Em actually had to wear her coat over her costume the whole time we were out and only lasted about 45 minutes. I actually think that's perfect. It provides her with just the right amount of candy and keeps me from eating too much of it.
Yeah, the dog suit. Wow. But at least he carves the pumpkins :o)
ReplyDeleteBut your dd looks adorable (and so do you!) I'm also paring down this Christmas...gonna try to use more natural elements that will carry over into all the winter months.
peace.
You've got to admire a guy who's willing to walk around in public with a dog suit on. I think it's hilarious...
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a happy Halloween! I hear ya on the cutting back on decorations. I am usually so tired of all the clutter by the time Christmas is over. Maybe the best solution is to not have as much of it in the first place.
ReplyDeleteWe have five kids and we were out trick-or-treating for 2 hours! Yes, we got way too much candy, and I think I consumed more sugar in two days than most people should have in a year! My inlaws came over for the weekend, and not only did we have the Halloween candy around, but they also brought a big bucket of ice cream, Halloween cookies, Sunny Delight, regular soda pop, and Captain Crunch cereal! After they left, I threw it all in the garbage! No more sugar for us until Thanksgiving! :) Have a great day! Beth.
That dog suit just made my day. "Every year with the dog suit." I love it. How on earth did he come to own said dog suit?
ReplyDeletePut it on the list...
I hear you about the clutter - I've already taken down and boxed up Halloween!
ReplyDeleteEven though you are tired of it, the black elements really do look good against your white dishes...just sayin :)
ReplyDeleteMy Halloween/fall decor is also down already, but I'll be pulling out the Christmas goodies soon.
Your husband looks hysterical!! I think it's nice that he's still a kid at heart. :)

cute! anxious to see your christmas pic. Put my tree up this weekend, as it takes me weeks to decorate the house!
ReplyDeleteI cut back on Christmas decor last year and it really worked for me. I focused on trimming the tree and then "supplemented" with lots of Christmas music, yummy smelling things and time with friends and family. :)
