Put Your Feet Up

I have a big problem. My coffee table. It's huge. I know that in order to show off my family room to it's full potential when our house goes on the market, I will need to replace it with something smaller.

This was not a devastating realization because my coffee table is old and beat up. But not the good kind of old and beat up.

And since one girl's trash is another girl's treasure, my sweet friend Carrie has excitedly offered to buy it off of me. I'm sure I will regret the decision when I see what wonderful things she does with it.

For now, I'm excitedly daydreaming about my options and  considering what new old and beat up thing I might bring home. I'm all about the silver linings.

Have a great weekend and I hope your pick wins the Super Bowl as long as your pick is the COLTS!!!!!!!

  1. Oh, all the little green chairs! What a cute idea. And how fun to have something you really need on your shopping/thrifting/antiquing list. Can't wait to see what you come home with.

  2. I love it when I have a really good excuse to find a new, rustic treasure!

Oh, and since the Cowboys didn't make it, the superbowl just won't be the same. But, I'll be watching!

  4. Jen, rest assured that all my chickens have their Colt's jerseys on! I love the photos you shared. I would love to have that look in my house, but white frightens me for some reason. I'm such an earth tone gal. Can't wait to see what you find for a coffee table!

  5. I love the photos... I have an old spool from electric wire painted white with a glass top. I put old photos under the glass and everyone loves it. I have had it for 12 years and I switch it out every now and then but always end up missing this one. It is the perfect size and always gets a lot of compliments! Spool:free, Glass top at JoAnne Fabrics on clearance (the PERFECT size!) $7, Paint: I had it on hand. A coffee table that I never love: Priceless!!!

  9. Those little green chairs were the inspiration for buying my little gold chairs from the meanest man in the history of flea markets who was SO mean that he continued to hurl taunts at me as I walked away and I was thisclose to flipping him off. And I don't think I've ever flipped anyone off, unless it was a joke, back in High School.

  10. I love those green chairs and that bench arrangement, so clever! Good luck with your coffee table search, I hope you find something amazing to put in your new little cottage in the Village!

And as far as the Superbowl is concerned, we here at the Tide are a bit conflicted! You see I went to college in Baltimore when they were the Baltimore Colts! But as you know, Mr. Tide is from Indy so we'll just have to flip a coin I suppose!

  11. I have an antique cedar chest -with feet for my coffee table. Have to make sure no one puts a drink on it, though - to keep the finish pretty.
    Good luck!

  21. I've always been partial to trunks being used as coffee tables. Most anything will work. Vintage wagons, crates or wooden boxes. I love thinking up new ideas for coffee tables. Right now I have benches. Good luck on your quest.

The colts are our team, since the Bengals didn't make it. Mostly I'm looking forward to the food LOL
