The last 4 months have found me neglecting myself. That combined with stress eating and the typical winter/holiday extra pounds and I find myself saying ENOUGH!
I splurged on some new sneaks, I'm loading up my Ipod with booty shaking music and I'm on my way.
I got rid of my treadmill because of hip problems and though I would love to replace it with an elliptical, I can't until we buy our next house and I know I'll have the space. I actually have free gym access through Sweet Hubby's work but every time I go by the approved gym there are 10 buff 25 year old guys on the treadmills in the window. Yeah... No... Thanks, I'll stay home.
My workout will consist of running up and down our stairs, walking in the neighborhood, jump roping and dancing around my house. Yes, imagine me doing the twist and the mashed potato in my family room to various Christina Aguilera songs while hoping none of my neighbors has binoculars. Yep. You wish you could get that image out of your mind now, right?
And since I always like to bring you girls along and I know many of you like my to do lists, I'm going to keep a running count down of my weight progress. Keeping it real. I doubt I'll be bold enough to put my actual weight there, but I will tell you that my goal is to lose 15lbs initially and then I'll see how I feel from there. I found this very helpful site for tracking your food and health goals thanks to Shawn at Buttercup Farm who is on a mission to be Fit by 40.
If any of you want to recommend songs to keep my booty moving, I'd love to hear them. And if any of you want to share your weight woes, success stories or tips, I'm all ears. Well ears and hips, but whatever.
Good for you girl! You really have it going on this year. It's your year! You gotta have some Lady Gaga up in that iPod!
ReplyDeleteWay to go..you can do it!! I love to power walk to calipso music are to mamba music..time just flies!!
ReplyDeleteIn the house its the music you are talking about..just good ole dance music all kinds. Thank the Lord we live in the country..my dancing would probably give the neighbors a heart attack laughing so hard..lol

Good luck, Jen! Great ideas!
ReplyDeleteI swear, breaking into an impromptu dance party in my living room gives me loads of energy right after. I should definitely do it more often.
Good for you
ReplyDeleteI so need to be doing the same :)
Hey, if I can post my weight and progress you can too girlfriend! It isn't easy to do is it? ha. I applaud your resolve and efforts. You will do a great job and I am cheering you on all the way. Boogie on.
ReplyDeleteWow, good for you! That is so admirable. I have an elliptical and can't seem to get my act together. However, I need to loose a lot more than 15lbs. and it is kinda overwhelming!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! I'm right there with you! I have about 10 to lose...but more important to the number, is fitting into my Summer clothes. I tried a few pairs of capris and shorts on today. I can button, but they are not pretty! I joined a gym a week ago, and it has been the best thing I've done for me in a long time...next to starting a blog in January! :)

Wow, we are living in parallel universies! I also decided that it was time to start taking care of myself. After three 50-60 pound pregnancies (the last one being last summer), I decided enough was enough! I just started exercising a few weeks ago and vaguely keeping track of calories and I'm down 17 lbs and my husband's down 20! We just remodeled our kitchen and I didn't put any of the junk back in and that has really helped. I also went onto iTunes and did a search for workout music and found tons of workout re-mixes of many popular songs. I also listen to these when I'm cleaning house and painting and it makes these chores much more enjoyable! Good luck to you and I know you can do it!
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes! Can you send some of your motivation my way? I want to be able to eat cupcakes without guilt this summer!
ReplyDeleteHow'd you get to be so funny? Well, I'm proud of you. My sister gave me one of those Jillian Michaels dvds, straight from Hades. I did half of it once, right before the chaos of last week, and I was sore for DAYS. And I liked it.
ReplyDeleteYou have me inspired!
ps- Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway album.
Go get 'em! You can't go wrong with Black Eyed Peas. "I gotta feeling . . . " It gets Little Miss & me out on the dance floor (er, living room floor) every time. I'm working on being kind to myself as well - checkout my blog in the next few days for more on the kind diet :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a very unique blog.
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures. Wow...
I like your blog.

good for you!! i have been walking all week too. something about spring in the air and a few extra pounds will do that. i'll be thinking of you when i'm walking.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel...I too am trying to lose 15 lbs. Its best to work on it "before the number of plds. gets to big".
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you have ever been to "TOPS"? You can find a chapter in your are by looking in the white pages of your phone book or going on-line. It stands for Taking off pounds sensibly. It is just a group of ladies that get together once a week to encourage each other, no matter how much you want to lose. Its a fun group that has contests to encourage people to stay on track. I go to one where i live. Its so much fun you don't want to stop even when you get to goal. To join usually costs $20. for an entire yr. That is the cost of the monthly magazine they send you. The first time meeting is usually free, so you can go and stay for one, to see what it is like. Its great, better than other expensive groups. Its just a bunch of ladies, that also want to lose.

Way to go - you can burn some serious calories dancing around the house!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! Let me know what songs you come up with. I am always looking for new running music!

ReplyDeleteI started hula hooping 6 months ago - laughed at my self so hard at first, but I am addicted, and pretty good now! heh! huge difference in my middle area! I crank up the ipod and go until I cant go anymore!
load up some Black Eye Peas and the Biggest Looser Workout Dance Mix is a great download!
Sounds like you are motivated and ready to go! Best of luck with your fit journey. I'm in the process of mine right now and I'm seeing the results. Of course I'm getting married on the beach in Jamaica in 7 weeks so I have some added motivation.
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! We will support you. I am trying to get off 3 lbs. that I put on this winter:( No fun.
ReplyDeleteThat's as great workout as you'll get. Don't forget the bugaloo!
ReplyDeleteSpring right to it.

Ray Charles' "Let Me Take Over". My favorite song in the world for East Coast Swing. Followed closedly by Chaka Khan's "I Want".

ReplyDeleteHey Jenn!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, I know you can do it.
I started getting serious after SB this year. Thanks to my doctor that told me I was heading down a bad road.
Anyhoo, the first thing I did was stop the diet cokes. Looking back, I can see diet coke had a big deal to do with my cravings.
I also started eating better. smaller portions. not so many sweets.
And the BIG thing... I started working out 5-6 times a week. I always have my gym bag packed for the next work out. (I workout at the office). Secondly, I try to exercise around the same time every day. (11a -12p). Typically, If I'm not in the gym by noon... I’ll never make it down there. So, pick a time, a try to stick with it.
I'm down 18 lbs. in 6 weeks. I still have more to go... but feel I have gotten a good start.
I wish you lots of luck. Put your mind to it... and you'll see the weight drop off.
hugs, Joanna

Good job!
ReplyDeleteI like to use fatsecret.com to track my weight and the food I eat.
Some good songs to workout to are "Waking Up In Vegas" by Katy Perry and "Wanted" by Jessie James. Of course, Lady Gaga is always good to workout too.
Have fun!
Good for you Jen!! I have recently started run/walking and it makes me feel great. I need to be more consistant but hate the treadmill and love to be outside doing it. I need a new pair of sneakers, which ones did you buy? Are they running sneaks?
ReplyDeleteAlso, do you have exercise on demand (cable)? I hear that is great, I need to try it!
Hi Jen~
ReplyDeleteYea, you go girl! :) I have been getting a little caught up tonight on your blog, and am so happy for you that you are finally finished with getting your home all ready to sell! I know you have been working so hard! I was looking at your green room on the post before last, and just wanted to tell you how AMAZING it is! It is perfect...if your home was where we are looking to move, I'd buy yours in an instant! :) I also love the oilcloth on the table!
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
You go girl! Love the new shoes. How about a little Black Eyed Peas? My favorite by them - okay maybe the only one I like - is Let's Get It Started. It always gets me moving!
