Emma's Room
We are really just starting to get settled in here in our temporary cottage.
There are still quite a few things I want to do, including painting 3 more rooms. I don't want to do too much to a home that isn't mine but I do want it to feel like home.
The entire upstairs was already painted the color Maddie wanted so my only immediate need was to paint Emma's room.
It was very important to her that it feel like her old room so even the paint color is the same.
Her curtains were the only ones we got to keep when we sold our old house.
Notice all the brown trim in this house? I'm not a fan but I'm not going to tackle that job.
I love the mix of patterns on her bed and this beautiful pillow I got from my friend Melissa looks perfect in its new home.
I especially hope this girl likes the room because she's going to be sleeping here in less than 3 weeks when she leaves her Montana farm to be an honorary Hoosier for a week. That's giving me extra incentive to get off my rear and accomplish some things. I hope to have a lot more to share with you in the weeks to come.

Very sweet! I love the board with pegs. Such a simple idea, but very practical. I have a girl who loves her bags and hats, too. wondering now if I still have all those white cabinet knobs...
ReplyDeleteThis is an adorable room! Love all of the soft colors and sweet touches.

What a sweet room! I'll bet she just loves it. It is always good to be able to bring a bit of OLD home to the NEW one...even if it is temporary. When we were renting (while we were rehabbing a house-gutting,etc.) we stayed in an apartment complex just down the road by the University. It was just a plain Jane sort of place but I decorated it up with all our "stuff" that we didn't store and made it feel like home. When the rental agent popped in one day to pick up some paperwork she looked around the apartment and asked if they could use it for showings (to show people what it would look like if they decorated it). I said yes with a bit of trepidation but when our plans went South and the new place wasn't done in time-they let us stay an extra 2 months for no rent! Hard to believe in this day and age, huh? We have recommended the place to several people that need short term housing. Diana

Do I really get to stay in that gorgeous haven when I come to visit? How exciting! This mom of boys can't wait to spend time surrounded by all things girl. Emma....you are a darling to share your beautiful room with me. I will treat it with the utmost care.
ReplyDeleteBut there's a very good chance I'm going to steal your pillow.
And your pink owl.
And quite possibly your little blue house.
Jen I LOVE that bunny on the wall about the books, it's so cute!!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful post. I *stumbled* upon your blog this afternoon and and happy I did. I need a good chunk of time to dig into your older posts. I am sorry for the loss of your mom this summer. I lost my mom on June 11th and have found my blog to be a place that helps me grieve. weird. anyhow... our situations were very different, but the loss of a mother is one that is unlike anything else. Just wanted to let you know I can feel your pain. yuck. Looking forward to reading more from you.
ReplyDeletethanks,
elizabeth

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful room for a girl.
ReplyDeleteSooooo pretty! And I love that pillow! I wish my Anna would be as compliant with such gentle and soft decor in her room. We're getting ready to move and she's adamant that her room be horses (browns, reds, greens) and absolutely no white furniture. Girls...*sigh*. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jen!! I love the room. It looks great, and still looks like a kid actually lives in it! I am dying to know what color pink you used- I have been looking for that same color for my craft room :) Thanks!

ReplyDeleteLove that rug. I bought it too. I stitched two together for the baby's room. Cute and didn't break the bank.
