The Sale
You know how I said I was never going to have another garage sale ever? Well, we had so much fun having it that I would almost consider doing it again. However, I have no plans to accumulate that much stuff again. We made a lot more money than we anticipated thanks in part to one of our first customers who bought almost $400 worth of stuff! Also, what a feeling to load the rest of the trappings of our old suburban life into the back of the car and drop it at the nearest donation center. While all of that was great, the highlight of the weekend was definitely the friendly people.
Well, that and Emma's bake sale! No more lemonade stands for her. She found her calling. I loved that people came up to her and talked to her like they knew her because her name was on her sign. She was very professional and prepared. Her packaging was adorable and all of her female customers really appreciated it. I think this girl has a future ahead of her. I'm thinking there is a Mom and Daughter shop in our future.

I have sworn I will never have another garage sale either-unless it is to sell the garage itself!
ReplyDeleteOur kids used to sell caramel corn (that they/we made) when we had our sales- It was always a big hit.
Your daughter's "stand" is very professional looking...you are right- I see a shop in the future for you two! xo Diana
I want some of those baked yummies right now! When is Emma opening her bakery? :) Tricia

She's adorable. Could she come and bake for me???
ReplyDeleteCute! How did you make the tags?
ReplyDeleteWOW...what a way to start ~ your first customer buying $400.00 worth of treasurers.
ReplyDeleteHow cute Emma is and her goodie stand. Cute pkging too. (reminds me of the commercial of the lil girl doing a lemonade stand ~ it's a phone commercial, I believe.)

ReplyDeleteIt was great to see you again, and meet your fun husband! Glad you enjoyed the sale, and hope you enjoy your new blueray player! Camille has had a lot of fun with the marble game! Bummed to have missed Emma's bake sale. Saturday was booked for us. Please let me know of she does another!

ReplyDeleteYou've such a lovely and talented daughter! Emma seems like such a incredible joy! Upper IN has been in the 80's but here lower temps are coming! We've some color here but mostly sumac and sugar maples. have a splendid week from South Bend to you! Lori
I love when the kids get into something. Her packaging is adorable....but I would expect nothing less. Lincoln is now in the 'egg' business. We put a couple dozen in the car when ever we go where friends are gathered.

Wow, what a goodie table! I know you had fun. Jackie
ReplyDeleteI am charmed! I am going to have to show Baby Bee! I bet the baked goods are even more delicious than the adorable packaging. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteI would buy from Emma's beautiful bake stand! When my girls were little the best part of any yard sale we had was their lemonade stand. Well worth the hassel to see them interact with people and get the joy of selling their lemonade and cookies!
ReplyDeletei have been thinking about this post all day. i really have. i love how emma has presented all of her baked goods. i may need to print that image out as an inspiration pic for my own kitchen.

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your garage sale went well. And Emma's bakery business? Wow, she has those goodies displayed so beautifully! Who couldn't resist buying baked goods from a sweet child, especially when the goods are priced so well and are beautifully displayed? I hope she enjoyed doing it and met some nice people!

I love Emma's bake shop! It kind of makes me wish that I could set up a table at the end of our driveway & have a bake sale -- why do kids get all the fun?? :)
ReplyDeleteGlad the sale went well. Emma's display looks very professional indeed. It would be hard to pass by, for sure.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine a more charming bakery. Congrats to Emma's neighbors - they are lucky indeed.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to seem too nosy but the dance studio my daughter goes to is having a yard sale to help finance a trip to Chicago. I was wondering how well did your daughter Emma do with her baked goods? We're trying to figure out if it would be worth it. Love hoe she styled her area.
ReplyDeleteThanks,Debbie Kingham
