On a Pedestal
Lately I've been spending a lot of time in the kitchen. Last week I made 2 batches of these scones. They're pretty good, especially for a healthy version. My search for the perfect scone continues but this was a nice diversion. Twice. The first batch lasted all of 12 hours.
I think they taste even better on these cake pedestals I got at Costco. They at least look like they taste better. The set of 2 was $20 and they also come in white. Why must there be such temptation at every turn? I called my man and said "What is a reasonable number of cake pedestals for a person who bakes all the time to own?" I already had 3 at home and he knew that but here is one of the many reasons I love him, he said "There is absolutely no limit." Yay. After an internal struggle I left the white behind and just bought green. I have a limited amount of space and hope to add a pink or blue one to my collection some day. Self control. Who knew I had any?

What a sweet husband to say there was no limit. I love that color green. It almost looks like jadite.
ReplyDeleteHave a great rest of your day.
The scones look wonderful and I LOVE the pedestal..so cute! :D
ReplyDeleteThe scones look amazing...(recipe??) BUT you are correct..they look even MORE yummy on the green pedestal...no costco around here (that I know of) SO, that will curb my "need" to own one! (of course, there is always online shopping..oh dear)
ReplyDeleteCostco??? For real? I am speechless...
ReplyDeletethat's a smart man. knows to keep mama happy. very cute. i think the green was a great choice.
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of you for leaving the white ones to fuel someone else's addiction! I love that green-it reminds me of the old Jadie green. Your scones look great! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOh, man... I may need to get a Costco membership JUST for these pedestals. If I had any idea where I'd store them, that is.
ReplyDeleteI was just in Sam's last weekend and Todd totally failed to talk me out of buy a set of 3 lovely, heavy, white serving platters when I have a bakers rack full of serving pieces as it is, lol.
I agree...everything does look better on cake pedestals! I even like the way they look without cake!!! Love these pics
ReplyDeleteWow~he is a keeper! Love the green pedestals...
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell how good those scones tasted!
Thanks for sharing!
I love those cake stands. Your hubby is one in a million.
ReplyDeleteHow yummy looking and how beautiful on those cake stands! Wish there were a Costco close to me I need those in white in a bad way. I really do! I never have pedestal cake stands when I need them. I also need the green ones as a gift for a friend. Can they be ordered online?
ReplyDeleteThose are great!- As much as I love white, I think picking green was the right move. :)
ReplyDeleteI stood in that aisle the last time I was at Costco and argued with myself over those very cake stands! I lost my head for a moment when I remembered that I already have six stands at home and left the aisle empty handed.
ReplyDeleteWhat was I thinking???
Those cake stands look antique! Very pretty. I've never made scones. But I'd love to try.

Those are adorable! What a great guy.....!!
ReplyDeleteI got that set at Costco about a month ago! I got the white one but the green really caught my eye, too. Apparently one can not have too many of those, I think I'm up to 10? Terrible! So fun to put the baked goods out on them.
ReplyDeleteYours look especially yummy with the scones on them.

Your husband is definitely a keeper! I love guys who encourage us to collect! I have one too. :) Kit
ReplyDeletei LOVE cake pedestals too. i have two (an autumn brownish one and a lime green one)...but am ever on the search for the perfect white one.
ReplyDeletei've been in scone-making mood too. something about january. so far this month, i've made chocolate chip pecan cream scones, peppermint stick scones, and strawberry meyer lemon scones. (recipes are all on my blog if you need to make more!) mmmm.
(so now we need to bake together and then craft together!)
Great response from the hubby! But you should march right back to Costco and get the white ones too! I bought one set of the white ones on Christmas Eve, they were closed on Christmas and I went back on the 26th and bought the green set and 2 more white sets (for gifts to give of course). I have since used ALL the sets in my decorating!! I have to make sure they are ok to use before I give them as gifts!! hee hee
ReplyDeleteCake Pedestals! Who knew? You could have sooo many uses for them, display a plant, scones, Centerpiece for the dinner table, scones, candles, or, um, scones. Great pics!
ReplyDeleteI adore pedestal dishes! Any size shape or color - and you really can't have enough. They showcase the baked goods so well. I thought of you yesterday as I was simmering what could possibly be the best stew I've ever eaten. I remember you saying on one of your blogs that you enjoyed the process of cooking - and I do too - and I totally get it. As I was peeling the celery root, and adding the spices - I enjoyed it so much - and I thought of you - another very enjoyable moment! : -)
ReplyDeleteYum. I may have to add "make scones" to my list for the day. We do not have a Costco dangit! Love those stands and how could you pass them up? 2 for $20, that's amazing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Jen...
ReplyDeleteEverything here....
Including you.
xo,
Kim
Costco! Hope mine has some...they most certainly make the scones look so yummy. Please share the recipe :o)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cake pedestals - wow, I really like that color. I'm always drawn towards cake pedestals. And your scones look delicious too :) Connie
ReplyDeleteOk, so because of this post I almost bought the cake stands at Costco but given I had already placed in my cart some other goodie, I had to walk away, maybe next time :).
ReplyDeleteYou are a lucky lady, your hubby knows you well.
Jen I have been out of the blog commenting for a bit..sorry busy but I have been reading. I love your studio space- very colorful and very you. I also am in love with your pedestals though really I'd love a scone.

Those are gorgeous cake pedestals. And I love your husband's answer to your question. I think he's a keeper.
ReplyDelete:-)
Darn, I need a Costco membership! Your husband is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteJen, about ready to send you twenty bucks plus tax and shipping for those plates in white! There are no Costcos in this part of IN even though I live minutes from the MI stateline, no go either!!! I love the hobnail!! If you get brave and want to help a fellow sometimes blogger and state neighbor, give me a shout out!! Lori
ReplyDeleteThe cake pedestals are just lovely, Jen. I love hubby's response and hope he enjoys his books. I get pretty excited about floor plans, trim and architectural details so I 'get it'. Your dining room and the chalk board look amazing, and the girls look like they had fun too.
ReplyDeleteI love the cake pedestals and what great gifts they can be for friends...your Man is a keeper for sure...
