Christmas at My Cottage

I had a rare moment when the house was empty and clean and I snapped some quick Christmas pictures to share with you, but also to help me remember what I did this year, next year because I feel like I finally figured out how my house wants to be decorated.

Of course a house with an aqua door can't be decorated traditionally. These colorful mercury balls in the windows of our front porch suit our house perfectly.

The Village in miniature.

 The tree farm!

Love this pillow that I found at a favorite shop on Main Street. It's happily living on the daybed on the front porch. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to put it away come January.

This Swedish stocking has a place of honor. The felt poinsettia is a pin I received in a swap at an art retreat I went to several years ago.

This garland was created from lots of vintage and vintage style things I had around the house. I love the colors. Of course!

Vintage books and some sentimental favorites like the dog on wheels ornament that has been with us a long time and the bell that goes back to my great grandmother and that several in the family have used when they were ill and would ring when they needed help.

Our tree. It's in an old galvanized tub which is barely visible because of the bounty of presents surrounding it.

 Pretty presents.

The most popular spot in the house these days. Since the tree is in my timeout corner, we drag the chair over by the sofa and then fight about who gets to sit in it. Usually the cats win.

Just the right amount of festive for me.

Shiny bits and details.

My ever growing Santa face collection.

The dining room. Yes 6 more days til Christmas! I'm not sure how that happened. Just one more day until I turn 42. I really am not sure how that happened!

The mantle. I really love this happy mantle and my collection of deer.

Baubles in a wood chicken feeder on the dining room table. Simple, colorful and vintage seems to be the theme for our decorating.

Thanks for visiting with me today. I'm off to finish cleaning my house because our realtor is coming by for a visit this afternoon!
