This Week

This week I'm:

Scheming a way to use my paper stash that is so out there and ridiculous that it should never have occurred to me at all. Remember when I said it's easy to be brave when you have nothing to lose? Remember those words.

Preparing myself for life changes. Last Christmas Maddie got this print as a gift. This Christmas she is putting it into practice as she packs her things and gets ready to move in with two roommates near her new school. Even though I know she will be in and out often and home for dinner a couple of nights a week, this still feels big. Really big.

Getting ready to start some Christmas crafty time including an attempt to make a version of these clay ornaments.

Trying to find a 2013 calendar that is both a weekly and monthly in an effort to streamline my life and that will also allow me to play in it. Any suggestions? I loved this one until I realized it was from Australia and the shipping makes it too big a splurge.

Debating the merits of spending a soon to be arriving birthday check on this or deciding if I should just make myself leave the house and go to the gym 4 minutes away where I have access to a gym for free. I'm really not a gym girl but I'm afraid to buy this and then discover, because of my back issues, it won't be a good work out for me. If I choose the free gym, then I can spend that birthday check on things like fabric, vintage pom poms, books and clothes.

Counting down until this afternoon when this guy is on vacation for 18 days! I took this picture after he fell asleep playing ukulele, because you know, it's hard work. Right after I took the pic he woke up and said, "I had a dream that I fell asleep playing ukulele." Yep, that's my guy.

  1. I love my Planner Pad for keeping things organized but even the "Seasons" style that I ordered for 2013 doesn't have a lot of "play" room (but the cover is getting a makeover sometime before Jan.1 or I won't be able to stand it).

That said, the person who turned me on to Planner Pads, Kimberly Wilson of Tranquility du Jour, just came out with a Traquility du Jour Daybook that might be very much up your alley!

  2. Change is good, right? I had to laugh at the ukelale picture. My husband has been known to fall asleep with a banjo by his side. I can think of worse alternatives...lol

  4. I remember when my two left home. It is an adjustment, but it is even more fun when they come home. Just finished a fun Christmas craft and ready to do some more. Have a wonderful weekend.

  6. I'm not sure about a planner, but maybe our fave, Cath K has one?? I would say join the gym so you can spend the money on other stuff. You may tire of tha machine and the be stuck with it. I'm thinking of trying a spinning class myself...my jeans are getting a bit snug these days :( best wishes for your daughters new place and school!

  7. I have an elliptical and it makes a wonderful and super-easy (too easy!) place to hang clothes. Just sayin' ... maybe try out the one at the gym for a while. ;-)

  8. I totally feel u on having to much paper. The elliptical is a great machine ...my favorite in the gym. But its lower back intensive. Pom pom trim and fabric sound much more fun. Big decision for ur oldest to move in w roommates.

  9. Looking forward to see what you are doing with the scrapbook paper and why don't you try the elliptical at the gym and see how it goes. I am having foot problems and that is what I am going to do, to see if it works for me. Have a blessed weekend.

  10. Buy the fabric and pompoms. You won't have to dust them! ;)

  11. I say join the gym.... try the eliptical there first. I would rather do any other cardio equipment than the eliptical. It literally kicks my a** every time I'm on it....and I'm only up to 15 minutes on it!! :o

Look on Craigslist for exercise equipment....around February ;)

  12. A free gym, really?! Go for it! Use the money for something else, not the elliptical for your home. You mentioned back issues...have you ever tried yoga? I have three herniated disks in my lower back and tried everything...chiropractor, two different physical therapists, acupuncture (that worked pretty good), and finally - yoga classes. After about two months of yoga, my back felt immensely better. Now I can't live without it. My back has never felt better ever since I injured it (several years ago).

  13. My present last year was an elliptical trainer, -(right before I turned 42 by the way) and I love it. I use it all the time. It's an enormous piece of equipment though so you really need to find a place for it. And, it gets really boring unless you have something to watch while you're on it. I have it along with a spare t.v. set up in my garage.

  14. I like to make my own Calendar by printing out whatever's handy, like Google Calendar. I put it in a 3-ring-binder. This one isn't so much for you to write on, but it could help you do the streamlining you're wanting to do...

...although, it looks like you're doing just FINE to me! I guess I sometimes need to be "told" what to do, and she breaks it down with fast, easy tasks and always something restful on Sundays. I hope you enjoy, and Happy New Year!
