It Pays to be Patient

After almost three months of mostly patient waiting, we got our sectional two weeks ago. I've been so caught up in the tail end of summer, and let's be honest, lounging on said sectional, that I've not had time to show you guys.

You know when your husband asks you when you're going to blog again, that it's time to get the camera out. We ended up buying the Baldwin sectional from Ballard Designs. Y'all. I did a lot of research. This was a scary decision for me. I've been waiting years for this so I was so nervous that I might get it wrong. I didn't! We love it SO much. My Sweet Man said he wishes we had ordered it as soon as we moved in to this house. It's perfect for us.

My girl Maddie and I refinished this table this weekend using Milk Paint. Sorry Miss Mustard Seed, not a fan. Don't worry it's me, not you. I do love the way it came out though. I was a bit of a pain during the process but luckily my girl has a lot of Milk Paint experience, as well as a lot of neurotic Momma experience, so it all worked out great in the end.

Here's a view to show you overall how it works in the room. There are a few things that eventually need to be changed, the white curtain panels, we need a shorter coffee table, a colorful lamp and a bit more color on the pillows, but for now I'm content. Plus? Hello budget!

Did you notice how this beast is in every picture? There is no keeping the cats off the back of the sectional. For this reason, I keep a throw up there to try to contain the fur. Right this very minute there are two of them up there. Sometimes all three smoosh themselves up there. It's a veritable cat haven.

The lint roller has become my most used tool. But mostly I don't freak out about it. But then sometimes I do.

The view from my corner. Mine until Emma comes in the room or my Sweet Man comes home from work. It's the most popular spot in the house. I would let you sit there if you came over. I would give you a cozy throw, put Gilmore girls on the tv and encourage a cat to curl up in your lap. You would be asleep in 2.3 minutes. I'm already planning the hours I will spend there this Fall and Winter.

I love this room so much now. It's a long narrow awkward space but it feels just the way I imagined it would 2 1/2 years ago. And while I also wish we had ordered it then, the waiting was good for us. Patience pays off in dividends of gratitude.

  15. It looks amazing in your space!! It's so fun to get something you love. I keep a drop cloth from lowes on mine and try to keep the cats off. It works well and it's easy to clean and put back on. Love your new couch!!

  27. That is EXACTLY the sectional I want for our new build. I'm saving nickels and dimes.....What fabric did you choose? I'd like a washed denim, but I don't think they have one like that.....next choice is camel. So beautiful! Looks like it was meant to be in that room!

the sectional looks perfect and makes me think that just maybe that will be our next sofa decision...a few more years with our current couch...but then just maybe :) we need more seating space in our family room.
